Sims 3 VIP Newsletter Signup + 100 Simpoints?
Posted by Origin/Sims Newsletters Category

The Sims 3 Team has emailed out a Sims 3 Showtime Newsletter, and it includes a link to sign up for the Sims 3 VIP Newsletter. It also states that you will receive a code to redeem 100 Simpoints? Not sure when and if it will arrive, but I will update if/when I receive a code. :)

  6. CUPCAKEMANAGERIE says:

I got an email like this but it didn’t say I would get 100 simpoints.

  7. eskie says:

I got this email today as well, and there was no line in the email regarding free simpoints or at the the click-through link site either.

  8. Kilu says:

I got this email about a week after showtime’s release. Got 100 points a few weeks later

  9. Sims VIP says:

For those who are not seeing the 100 Simpoint line, have you purchased and registered Showtime? Did you purchase through Origin? This seems to be an EA exclusive “Showtime offer”. Either way, the code doesn’t expire until January 2013 according to the small print.

“* OFFER EXPIRES JAN 1, 2013. CODE EXPIRES JAN 1, 2013. INTERNET CONNECTION AND EA/ORIGIN ACCOUNT REQUIRED. YOU MUST MEET THE MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENTS, WHICH VARY BY COUNTRY, TO REGISTER FOR AN EA/ORIGIN ACCOUNT. YOU MUST ACCEPT THE SIMS 3 STORE DIGITAL SERVICES AGREEMENT TO RECEIVE SIMPOINTS. SIMPOINTS CAN BE EXCHANGED FOR VIRTUAL ITEMS AT THE SIMS 3 STORE, ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE AND ARE NOT REDEEMABLE FOR CASH. CANNOT BE COMBINED WITH ANY OTHER OFFER, GIFT CARD, REBATE OR OTHER DISCOUNT COUPONS. LIMIT ONE OFFER PER PERSON. OFFER MAY NOT BE SUBSTITUTED, EXCHANGED, SOLD OR REDEEMED FOR CASH OR OTHER GOODS OR SERVICES. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED, TAXED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW.”

Hopefully the codes will go out before 2013? :P

    i got this same message….and i have the disc vesion…and i don’t have origin..

    1. Sims VIP says:

Did you order SHT from Origin? Trying to narrow down who does and doesn’t get this simpoint offer.

      1. jamie says:

No i ordered it through Amazon…

  11. Emo_4 says:

I ordered from Origin and got this email a few weeks ago. Still waiting for the points

  12. Crizzy says:

I received an email like that but without the 100 SP offer. :( I have Showtime and I bought the disc version through Amazon.com.

  13. Steph says:

disregard the top post i got gfs

  14. Steph says:

    @ Yamilette :)

i bought ST at best buy (disc) all my games are registered on the sims 3 site

  15. Mystyrys says:

I got that email today and mine does not include an offer for 100 sim points.

I bought Showtime pre-ordered through Origin and registered the day it arrived in the mail.

I have also been registered for the Sims VIP Newsletter since before the Sims 3 base game was even released. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I get it long after whatever announcement or special offer has already expire3d.

  16. Kebechet says:

I also received the email today and it didn’t include the offer for 100 sim points or the small print at the end.

I purchased my copy of Showtime as an Origin download and registered it the day I got it. I haven’t registered for the Sims VIP newsletter though, so that might be my issue.

  17. Yamilette says:

I still havent gotten the points I got my game from Target and yes my gamne is registered.

  18. Steph says:

I wonder if we get the first newletter will the points be there then ?

  19. CoffeeChick0 says:

I received this e-mail yesterday, signed up and today found a “thank you” for signing up e-mail in return which included NO code for the promised simpoints.

Looks like yet another bogus way to get our info.

  20. msrednotdead says:

Got the email, have the Digital version of Showtime which is registered etc, got no line about simpoints, did not get simpoints.

  21. Julie says:

Is this the same e mail that people on the sims site are asking if it is a phishing e mail

  22. simplyme1718 says:

Warning! I believe that this is a phishing email. I too signed up for it but then I wondered why would EA send an email so long after showtime came out. I logged into my account at the sims3.com, went to mypage, and clicked on my account. My account page was different and weird looking. I also saw a message saying click to redeem my simpoints, which was strange to me. I logged out and changed my password at origin. I logged in with the new password and now my account page is back to normal. Hope this helps.

    1. simplyme1718 says:

If I am wrong about this email, then I apologize and maybe something was just borked with my account.

  23. Sims VIP says:

This is NOT a phishing email. Please read my response here: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/528211.page#8249211

    1. simplyme1718 says:

Oh ok. I guess I got paranoid when my account over at the sims3.com website was all messed up and then I read on that site that the email was a phishing email. I guess it was just a coincidence. My apologies.

  24. Chnebierk says:

Could you explain the reason I was subscribed to “the sims 3 newsletters” and got this mail telling me I’m now a VIP ??, I’ve never purchased the Sims 3, I’ve never played this game, I own an Origin account well…Is that the reason ??

  25. twilightmanic1 says:

I don’t even know how this works, I got an email saying I signed up and got a code to redeem simpoints but I haven’t signed up. what is it and is it free to sign up, because if it is then why do E.A. feel the need gift simpoints. do you think its like some kind of scam or junk-mail.

    1. Me, here says:

Sounds like you had the same/similar email to me and I hadn’t (knowingly) signed up either.

However, I do not have an Origin account so can’t see that there’s a link there.

But, it is feasible I think that they have bought mailing lists from other companies that make games on the basis that people who buy PC games are a potential purchaser of Sims 3 and its expansion packs. This might explain why people who don’t even own Sims 3 have received emails about it.

But, as you say, I can’t see the logic in them giving away SimPoints, but for them it could be a “sprat to catch a mackerel” as my dear old nan used to say. They give away something small (100 SimPoints – which let’s face it, doesn’t actually buy a lot in the Sims 3 Store, does it?) in the hopes of getting a larger return e.g. customers buying more points to “top up” their freebie, or even purchasing an EP or something. Who knows?

      1. SimsVIP says:

Do you have a Sims 3 account? If so, that is the email they have access to. Whether or not anyone signedup doesn’t matter. If you’ve ever given EA your email for any purchases, surveys etc, they are able to collect that for future use.

  26. twilightmanic1 says:

I only clicked the button once didn’t mean to send twice sorry :)

  27. Chnebierk says:

Hey twilightmanic1 do you have an origin account as well ?? both accounts ( Sims 3 and Origin might be linked… ) but I don’t know :/

  28. twilightmanic1 says:

yes, I do. and I looked at the redeem code it’s way to long for the boxes provided on the sims 3 community anyway it doesn’t make much sense.

  29. Me, here says:

I had a slightly different email from them; I got an email from EA saying that I’d signed up to the VIP newsletter (I don’t recall doing that!) and telling me I had “100 free SimPoints to use at the Sims 3 Store. Use this code to claim your SimPoints”. Underneath this text is a white, blank box.

The instructions at the bottom of the email tell me to enter a 16-digit code… the only code on the page is a 20-digit code in the Account Info box.

I have Sims 3 plus 3 EPs, but not Showtime; however, the email I received doesn’t mention Showtime at all in any way, shape or form and particularly not as a qualifier for the free points – the offer is 100 free points for signing up to the VIP newsletter.

That said, apart from feeling mildly curious about how and when I allegedly “signed up” I’m not going to lose any sleep over it!

Just wanted to add another variation of the mailing in case anyone else has had the same thing happen!

    1. Melusine377 says:

I had the same thing, I have signed up though but only have a white box and no 16 digit code. Weird.

  30. Melusine377 says:

Got a new mail today with code and apologies for the previous mail error. As usual the site is not responding (however that may be the lovely BT to be honest!!) so can’t tell if the redeeming works – will let y’all know x
