Well that filled me with confidence about EA …. NOT

It sounds like all Riccittiello is bothered about is social networking . Also sounds like he thinks Ea is better off than it actually is

    What a douche…

  3. Chris says:

They should focus on making better games and improving the current ones than competing with Zynga and social networking in my honest opinion. Maybe their sales will increase for once if they focus more towards the games itself.

Sure social networking is popular, and many social games grab lots of revenue, but just because they make plenty of money (especially since MOST of them are free) it doesn’t mean EA should participate in it too just to grab more money because of their lack of sales. Gee I wonder why they don’t make many sales already from their current games. *rolls eyes*

Sure I love my sims games and all, but it doesn’t mean i’ll support their “other” franchises and other games if this is the road they are going through. Regardless, I’ll still be buying my sims 3 games, but this social nonsense is going to drive more people made, let alone crazy. I’m only 1 person, so I’ll be one of few who will play the sims, but I’ll see many others quit, maybe buy games from another company.

  4. Jeff says:

Well as long as the sims 4 isn’t online I’ll be happy.

    • Julie says:

reading his comments on various interviews it seems like he wants all EA games to be more and more online orientated .

The only games online i ever played was Everquest and Everquest 2 and they were solely developed for online. I eventually got fed up of those and have no further interest in playing online with people i do not know and have no interest in as the vast majority only want to play how it suits them not how it suits everyone in that online group .

Final thought it seems in this interview that the CEO is trying hard to save his own skin by glossing over how badly EA are doing . If Ea were as good as he reckons the investors would be there not keeping away , they clearly have no confidence in how EA are doing .

  5. Josh says:

i like the sims but ea really!!!??? i mean come on the sims 1 and 2 were not social games but the sims 3 even though its good should not be a social game what happend to the francise???? for gods sake ea listen to your fans i dont want anymore social stuff just please fix the games bugs showtime more or less is the one that needs fixing and start giving people what they want please

  6. Looking at the stats for Sims Social over the last 30 days I don’t see a massive trend for this game.

Monthly Average Users (MAU) is down over 2million from this time last month for TSS and Daily Average Users (DAU) down 100k on average…

I’m not seeing an upward spiral here Mr CEO.

    • Julie says:

The figures show the normal trend . People flock to them and then the numbers decrease rapidly over time until just the core of players remain . These are usually people who have paid large amounts of their own money to buy the extras offered and feel they have to play to get back what they paid .

Then the next “Big Thing” appears and the sheep flock there for a while .

The daily/monthly users is not a true reflection of these sites though as often people may log in and out for maybe 20 minutes, 3 or 4 times a day so the actuall number of users is often a lot less than shown

  7. Tine says:

    i miss maxis..

  8. still_alive says:

EA is so annoying! I don’t understand why they don’t take more care in their games instead of releasing a bad one with bugs and glitches. If they love money as much as they do, they’d make a good game so more people would be interested. Notch is right! They are cynical bastards! lol… i miss maxis and will wright.

  9. TallCoolOne says:

LOL!!! He certainly is optimistic. I guess he’s gotta be. SO wish Cramer knew more about the actual games! :) “something is wrong here”
