On today’s CNBC Mad Money, EA’s CEO John Ricitello tells viewers that “in a month from today”, there will be a big time Social Game hitting Facebook “That will be all over the news”. With EA competing against Zynga, one can only imagine that a SimCity Social has been in the works.
I was doing some digging around today, and it appears that EA has registered several SimCity Social Domains, created an Unpublished “SimCity Social” Facebook Page, and also reserved a SimCity App on Facebook that is already hosted on Playfish. SimCitySocial.com, SimCity-Social.com and SimCityFacebook.com, are all sites registered to Electronic Arts.
When digging around on Facebook, the URL Facebook.com/SimCitySocial redirects to the homepage, as it is an unpublished page (not visible to the public). Another clue as to what Ricitello claims will be “the next big social game”, is the SimCity Social app that has been discovered on Facebook. Rincon Del Simmer has provided us with an image of the app’s web address, using the Source Code.
When clicking on the application’s URL, Facebook returns with an error, however Google’s Cache (when stopped before the loading completes) shows a different story in the source code.
Is this the “big” game hitting Facebook and the news next month?
Eh.. I’m not a big fan of those games where you make a city or town. There’s not enough customisation for me. I love customising things in games. That’s why I love Sims 3. I can have my home, my sims, customise them both, and I can also customise every single home around me, and every single sim living in them.
looks like city ville is going to have a rival in fb city building games
