    That’s great! :)

Awww, now there’s one less reason to buy the EP…

As much as I like free content, I’m starting to wonder what the point is in having expansion packs when half of the content is delivered via a free patch.

    • Jay says:

Half the content? Don’t you think that’s overstating it a bit much?

    • SIMplyTheBest says:

Half an exp in an update?, LOL…thanks for the laugh, needed it!!!

Heck, then you don’t even know what’s in exp & stuff packs. Since I have almost all S3, except the disappointing Diesel Stuff & Supernatural – (didn’t want Halloween 24-7)

I KNOW for a fact that updates give very little, & usually nothing.
So does anyone else that has all or most packs.
As matter of fact the last update made me lose my Sim cuz I didn’t want to save a Sims that had glitched journal for having mastered gardening BEFORE the update :(

All u have to do is click on collections folder for base game & you will see almost nothing to work with.

      I’m sooooo looking forward to diving/swimming..I LOVE beachy/tropical!! :D

      • Samis says:

        Supernatural is everything but disappointing.

Supernatural is the best TS3 expansion so far. ;)

        • SIMplyTheBest says:

Well that would be an opinion, not fact.

But I will eventually get it.
Esp if you can “turn off Halloween” most of time.
I’ve been reading a LOT of bugs/glitches & prefer to wait since I only like horror/supernatural in movies & books.
Does sound like a very hilarious remake of “Resident Evil” can be made of it though….

    • SimsJackal says:

So swimming in the ocean and a diving board is half of the Seasons expansion? Wow…. way to go minimalizing how big the expansion is…. I for one am happy they’re adding those things to all players, not just Seasons buyers.

      • Samis says:

Blue print mode is also in update.

        1. Blueprint mode
        2. Swimming in the ocean
        3. Diving Boards

I do not care that much for Seasons. So best features are in patch. Nice!!!

Only reason for me to buy Seasons are Aliens now. :)

    • Moodbeam says:

I think you all know I was exaggerating my point to get it across. There’s no need to attack me. Firstly, I’m not moaning. I just don’t understand why they insist on adding things into patches these days; especially when they advertise these items/features as being part of the new pack. Secondly, I do have most of the packs (missing some stuff packs, because they were filled with stuff my game has enough of) so I have a very good idea of how much content expansions/stuff packs tend to come with. I am simply struggling to understand why EA have started to ship new items/features with the patches. Surely the patches should be there to fix the ever increasing list of bugs and the expansions should be there to add new skin colours/items/roof tiles/building decorations/etc… It seems to me that the patches focus more on adding in new things than they do fixing bugs and glitches; which is surely the primary purpose of a patch?

Wow in a patch thats awesome news!

  5. Aaron says:

Wheres the pool slide? thats what i want to know

  6. Criminal says:

Well as I know in the past most of the additions used to come with updates for free. Now they are called expansions and cost money :D

  7. angrydragon114 says:

that’s good that mean ea can use it in it’s next world

    • Peoinee says:

While im getting seasons your very right no need to set a diving board since they can build every pool with it preset. including townies homes. now pool parties will have one more thing to do.

  8. kitty says:

Will be glad to have it back. :)

  9. catloverplayer says:

Good for the people who arn’t buying seasons. I wonder if the slowdance will also be patched in for people not buying seasons.

    • amber says:

Doubt it. The way I see it, they will only patch things in if not having them would cause conflicts with ones that too. Take basements for example. Let’s say you don’t have world adventures and you see this really cool house on the exchange and that house has a basement. The guy downloads it and ether he can’t see that basement or something messes up and he can’t use the house. If you upload a sim to the exchange who could watch the stars (From generations) in your game that does not mean he will do that if a player without generations put him or her in their game as interactions can’t be transferred from player to player.

  10. Sock Puppet says:

Alright, so people complain when they have to buy an EP just to get one thing they like and not use the rest of the content. And then when EA decides to add free stuff in patches people still whine?

    • Peoinee says:

ya its the way of the world one group will always voice their opinion then when they get what they want the other group will be mad and voice theirs. Sucks but thats our life now

  11. catloverplayer says:

I’m looking foward to the filtering system in cas that will be patched in for everyone. This will help you find clothes and hairs from various eps, sps, store stuff and custom content much quicker.

I have so many clothes and hairstyles in cas now and they’ve slowed it down.

  12. Lime says:

Well, just to add. There will be ONE free diving board in the patch, and ONE in the Seasons game.

  13. Conclue says:

I think they’re adding the diving board into the patch simply because they want everyone who bought “The Sims 3″ to have it. I think originally Seasons was meant to come WAAY earlier than it did; and with that they kept saying “diving boards go with seasons” and kep that silly mentality this long.

Since Ron is gone and Ben is back I feel like the Sims team is more like Sims 2 and not Sims 3. Everything is getting better. They have given the fans 3 requested EP’s in just under a year. They’ve fixed things we wanted fixed. Celebrities are no longer an invasive species. We wanted LN lots and ST lots to be interchangeable; and they did it by the next patch. That patch was MAINLY for that.

I think as a whole the team is getting back to basics… eg satisifying the communities wants. While the community was screaming “Seasons! Magic! Vacations!” we were getting RPG adventures, watered down EP”s (Amb, LN, Gen) now we’re getting loaded content EP’s similar to Sims 2 (Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons)

This is their way of trying to make people happy. I’m willing to bet that Sims 3 sales are no where near as epic as Sims 2. At one point during the Sims 2 runs 4 of the titles were in the top 10 at christmas time. I think it was in 2007 when seasons came out, that holiday shopping season.

  14. Mr X. says:

Swimming and diving boards will be in the patch. Let me guess next they’re gonna say weather and aliens will be in the patch too…

What is the point of making an EP than giving features away for free?

  15. DustyDog says:

I for one like this idea I think some of you are taking it as an insult I think the only other thing that they might put in the pach is the “slow dancing” interaction but what they have put in is brilliant!
