Well said thecarrolllegacy. I agree with you and am pleased overall with Sims games, be it the Original, 2 ,3 and now Sims 4. I look forward to the EPs of 4 and eagerly await that next EP. 🙂

Well written and well edited. From my experience, no matter what field you work in, it is impossible to please all of one’s customers at the same time. Most customers don’t want the explanation. They want what they want when they want it, and most of all, they want it NOW. I would like to claim that I’m the exception, but that would not be true. 🙂 Keep doing the best work you can, as best you can within the corporate (*ugh*) structure. Thank you for reading the forums and working on solutions to our problems.

Okay I went and read what you had say, I am sorry but you’re response was really… *b*o*r*i*n*g*!! You are as good as James Murdoch in speaking for hours and saying nothing!! *very corporate* I know it is screaming into deaf ears, kindly fix the bugs like the level 10 horse stutter gallop fail, excavation bug etc. Then, may be, we shall have faith in your team.

While I understand the Sims Team work hard to make what they think is a high quality game. I would less apt to to think of them as money sucking vultures if the mac section wasn’t left completely high and dry. If it weren’t for NRAAS NoCD mod I would be experiencing the CD authorization glitch and wouldn’t be able to play my game at all. So pardon me if disagree with you Graham.

No offense to Mr. Graham. I’ve been playing this series for 7 years. Personally, I think Sims 3 has the “worst customer service”. What they did with the Pets EP (rig fiasco) is unpardonable. I am sure it was premeditated to cull the competition. A SimGuru might have made an announcement about the massive change. That is what is expected of a SimGuru from a customer point of view. I am not buying your whatever-you-call-it, I am sorry. To counter the argument that they do not have to worry about CC creators and CCs, let me give you a reality check. Sims series is nothing if not for the wonderful CC creators. The new direction that Sims 3 is taking made me quit buying the Showtime EP. Thank God, I had already quit, Katy Perry SP, that is the nail on the coffin for me. I don’t blame the Gurus, they do not play the game, they don’t have the passion for this game. I don’t even think crying out loud is going to help any. I am glad I quit.

I have to say, some of the simmers are WAY TOO HARD on the sims team. They work hard and even though I don’t like everything that’s come out with the Sims 3, I apreciate their hard work and how positive and excited they always seem when talking about the game. Also we don’t know everything that goes into making The Sims 3 content. It’s one thing to create mods, but they’re the ones actually creating the game!
Anyway, SimGuru Graham thanks for listening to the fans and being so awesome even when some of us aren’t 🙂

As someone who worked on mods for around ten years for various games before I became professionally involved with the industry, I think I have a pretty educated stance on the differences between the framework that modders and official devs have to work within. I go into a lot more detail about that in this followup post.

I’ll be posting in that thread a bit more; there are a few other things I want to talk about there that may interest people. SimGuruMeatball also stopped by and posted some thoughts of his own, so by all means keep an eye on it.

Let’s stop beating around the bush here. We all know that this post was an indirect response to all the negative feedback about the Sweet Treats expansion. Yet he only mentioned it once, and in passing. As for the comments about mods, well, other here have said it already, the best modders do it for free, on their own time, and test and debug and everything else they need to do. Twallan has a new updated version of his mods a day or two after each patch. Is it so much to ask that EA fixes some glaring problems that have plagued the game for years now?? And while it may be true that the vocal contingent on the forums isn’t the whole of the Sims community, how do you think it looks to a new customer when the forums are full to bursting of people going “WTF EA??”. Do you think that new customer isn’t going to base their future purchases based on opinions that are posted? Surely, you can’t please everyone. But by fixing what is already busted in the game, or at LEAST making sure that new content can be integrated with old, will certainly go a long way.

This looks to me like one long excuse .

The worst bit was the excuse for them being basically not allowed to bug fix . They are paid to make the game and make sure it works . Modders are not and do not forget that most modders have to go out and work seperately to earn a living ( then come home and fix Ea’s laziness ib theor own time )while the programmers at EA are there with the product in front ot them all their work day .

I also find it hard to beleive that graham actually expects us to believe he wrote this at home in his own time on a Sunday . Sorry I am not buying that .

I think it’s great that they reach out to the community but I don’t think they should take so much to heart. In the end, they are corporate drones. Everytime I complain, I say “EA” as the company, very seldomly do I ask “WTF Sims Team??” (say for instance the epic epic fail that is the celebrity system/vampires? or stages not working in “clubs, venues or bars”.

They have to understand us too. There’s gonna be alot that fans complain for, however theres some issues that should be top priority. I don’t think ANYONE ever wanted a celebrity system that would turn all of your Sims into celebrties. That should be fixed and if the coding is too hard to fix, give us an option in the testingenabledtrue cheats to just adjust celebrity levels or rid of them. Fact of the matter is that LN came out 2 years ago and it’s still not fixed, yet theres new content in the store every 2 weeks. That’s my biggest gripe. Theres been HOW MANY patches since LN? 10? LOL

Just sayin’. But we appreciate the hard work 🙂
