You can’t make a mermaid when you first start the game, sadly, but you can do other stuff to become a mermaid. You can befriend a mermaid/merman and click “ask about fish parts.” It won’t work the first time, so you’ll have to keep trying until they give you the mermaidic kelp. Another way is to get 25,000 lifetime points and buy the mermaidic kelp. For me, I couldn’t find a mermaid and learning to scuba dive takes a long time to learn, since there are no books. So I raised up 25,000 lifetime points and bought kelp. Now that I have a mermaid in my family, I’m using her husband to ask for kelp so he could turn into a merman. Hope this helped!!!

If it isn’t a new life state just use the cheat (testingcheatsenabled true)
then shift click on a mermaid
just wondering is there going to be underwater mermaid homes???

I’ve found some more information clearly stating that mermaids will be playable, they will be both genders even though both are referred to as mermaids, that they will tails in the water… sounds like they will be able to switch forms, and female mermaids will wear seashell bras. I am almost positive that mermaid will be a playable sim in the game is they aren’t then EA has made a mistake. But as most sim players know there is a cheat allowing you to add any animal or sim to your household and allowing you to play as that animal or sim. I am not positive but that cheat will probably let you have mermaid as a part of your household. If that doesnt work then there will most likely be an option, after you have highly befriended the mermaid, to ask them to be a part of your household. But other wise i am sure they will have mermaids be a playable character.

I have to say though, I feel like the mermaids flash back to the vampires. EA put a sneak peak of vampires in the late night trailer, as an intro to the beginning of super naturals, so it is probably the same kind of advertising, just to get players extra excited. And on top of that, in the medieval game, I’m sure EA had gotten at least some responses of the disappointment of players about only getting a random message from a mermaid. (And not being able to see them) So if that is true, they had to have known/prepaired the gameplay the way we want it so we don’t get uber upset. Plus, (last point(: ) to befriend a mermaid, don’t you have to interact with it? Yes(:
