To be honest I have most of my music as mp3s on my computer, I just prefer the sound quality of CDs to mp3s overall. My stereo is packed away as I don’t have room for it where I’m currently living.

I love Amazon, almost all of My sims 3 content is from them. Only a few times did I get a disc for an EP through Origin as it was cheaper than Amazon.

I prefer mp3’s over cds because of space saving. Your pretty safe with amazon. You just download them to the cloud and then you drop them to your devices. My kindle fire and droid phone now have a lot of mp3’s I have dropped from my amazon cloud.

Is there any chance that now that we’ve reached the end of TS3 with eps we can download the origin exclusives? I never did get the shark outfits even though I preordered seasons from origin. I never got the code.

I’d really love to get my hands on those.

Especially a new release because you got everyone on the server at once. And a LOT of people have low and limited internet access. There was one expansion that took days for people to install because everyone was trying to download it at once. While us disk players were laughing and playing the game. Or at least I was…

I’m paranoid that with digital content, unless I have it backed up in several places, a company will decide “Sorry we aren’t supporting this, here’s a lame courtesy token to try one of our other games.” And said courtesy token will be meaningless to me, or not nearly worth the amount of money I put into the game.

A good example of that for me is, The Sims Social. I was one of those many people that shelled far too much money out for “pixels”. I didn’t get to keep what I paid for, and got no refund. I can safely say I won’t spend money on Facebook like that again. Yes I realize Sims Social Facebook does not equal Sims 3…but I still paid a lot of money for something that isn’t tangible, and look where it got me. I’d be scared to have all of my Sims 3 as digital only.

I’m aware support for every technology eventually fades…but it’s not like we are begging Origin to keep around 8-track tapes or something that antiquated. I realize computers (both desktop and laptop) are going away from having disc drives-that doesn’t mean I have to like it or agree with it. I still prefer CD’s over mp3s if possible. I still prefer DVD’s/Blurays to having yet something else clog up room on my computer that I may not watch/utilize constantly.

I’ve noticed that games that require physical discs versus an online connection only, that the physical discs nearly always seem to perform faster. Someday that may change but not yet.

I luck out when it comes to internet, as I work for a telecommunications company so I have fast internet. But I’ve certainly considered what happens if I lose that job.. I won’t be able to afford internet most likely, or it’ll be something where it’s pay by the GB or very slow speed.

In case TL:DR, I can’t say I’m too pleased with Origin, their numbers are so skewed. It does make me wonder, though I have purchased the stuff packs through Origin..I’ve never downloaded Origin or the stuff packs themselves.. as my computer is too slow/old to run Sims 3 easily. I’ve heard so many people complain at trying to move their digital content licenses from one computer to another.. so that’s why I’m waiting.

I’m in the middle of (re)downloading Bioshock Infinite — almost 35GB for the game and all the DLCs. What if for someone that 35GB is all or most of their monthly allowance? What if for someone it could take them a couple of weeks to download the whole thing?

Not everyone lives in areas where interent is cheap, fast, and unlimited. Most cases you choose two of the three, and bargain out what is least important.

It’s a outright bold-faced lie. And if they lie about something this obviously and ridiculously easy to disprove, it makes me never want to buy another product that uses Origin again.

I’ve only bought TS3 and expansions, that’s it, and proudly don’t use Origin whatsoever with them as it is. But if this is how they want to try manipulating their costumers, I’m out. I don’t need TS4 if Origin is mandatory. And this only further confirms all the bad press and attention Origin gets about betraying their users in a plethora of ways.
