They only stressed about open worlds in the Sims 3 because it was the newest and biggest feature. In the Sims 4, there’s no need to put such an emphasis on it because they assume that everyone can use logic and see that there is one. Just like someone else mentioned, you can clearly see that there are long range shots of the sims moving and interacting, which largely hints at it being an open world. Graham Nardone even clarified that there is an open world.

I’ve seen teens in some renders.. like the one may the 4th be with you.. the blonde guy who I guess was based on Luke, is a teen… just look at him you can tell 🙂

Agreed. I doubt they would go back to a closed world., however after looking at the trailers again, I believe we are going to get a mix of TS2 & TS3. For example, if you look at any of the neighborhood pictures, you can see the houses in the far background look like rabbit holes// have no ornate landscaping/windows are blurred out etc. this makes me think we will be able to play sections of the hood as an open world, but there may be short loading screens in between hoods. Also, the town across the river (the one from the concept art) also looks like rabbit holes/unplayable lots – there are never sims over there.

Honestly nothing about what we have seen would make me think it’s a closed world, true they haven’t really brought it up, but the open world thing was big selling point for ts3 because it hadn’t been done before. I don’t think the sims team is stupid enough to close off the world ts2 style again that would be back tracking a huge feature of the series. I don’t think they have to mention an open world at all, they can just show it like I feel they have been doing so far. Someone will ask though and they will answer. We all could be wrong but I would be shocked especially from what we have seen.
