Just for future reference, it is technically not an auto save feature, its more of a backup save feature with a auto save name slapped onto it, i’ve only found it to work when you leave the game without saving it doesn’t make saves in a timed basis, so if the game crashes or something happens, you will still be swindled out of all the progression you did since it only saves a so called “Auto Save” if you use the “Just Exit” button instead of the “Save and Exit” , which to me completely renders this feature pretty much useless since it already warns you about saving before you close the game and if you press “Just Exit” then there’s really no point to a Auto Save

I just lost over an hour of gameplay where there were many important events. I am sure I saved during that time as I save a lot, my sim did travel to the park and nightclub and home, and the game crashed and zip was saved. So it does not save when you travel as my sims did that.

I just lot about 4 hours of gameplay and can confirm that in general it looks like the game only saves when you travel….it does not save after work, it does not save each time you rest, it does not save when you take a poop, it does not save when you enter build mode. IT DOES NOT HAVE A WORKING AUTO SAVE in the sense that it will back up your content often enough to not lose 4 fricken hours of gameplay. So this feature is a lie.

This^ I don’t want to be in the middle of something and then the game takes 10 minutes to save. That would drive me nuts. I hope it is in the background and we don’t even notice it.

I doubt it. Autosaving is a standard feature, most games have it. For some games that’s the only way it saves, via a checkpoint system with no manual save option.

That’s not to say I think TS4 won’t be buggy, I have no idea what state it will launch in. If it’s as stable as SimCity 5 was at launch, that would be an acceptable starting point IMHO. That game was pretty stable…for me it was anyway. It stayed at a steady framerate for the most part and in the nearly 60 hours I’ve put into it, it never glitched out to the point I had to start over and it hasn’t crashed on me once. Now watch, the next time I go to play it it’ll crash. XD Oh, and the always online requirement for SC5 was patched out months ago. I thought that was worth mentioning.
