Cancel your pre-order. Regardless of how the game turns out, it’ll be much safer to just wait to buy this game *after* release… and much smarter too imo. 😛

While the new version obviously lacks polish, does anyone else notice it looks A LOT more like it was made in TS3?? Especially in comparison to the first one.

The hair has that very un-detailed, bland look very characteristic of vanilla TS3 hair. The softness of the face, the less-defined facial features, muddy low-quality lighting — if it wasn’t for the somewhat-defined nose and neckline, we’d almost be in “pudding” territory all over again.

Just when the community was getting accustomed to the new art style, you give us a bastardized version of TS3 graphics. What are you guys doing over there? Purposely TRYING to ruin chances of ever selling this game? -_-^

At first glance I can see how people think the graphics have been downgraded. I did too, but I wasn’t going to say that without looking harder at the pictures. After putting them side by side (the originals that don’t have the background cut out I mean), I don’t think they were. In fact it looks like they have been updated slightly. The eyebrows and teeth obviously have more detail.

I think the two sims look so different not so much because of graphical changes, but because of changes SGRusskii made to her sim: smaller mouth, the nose is slightly different, different eyebrows (they’re thinner in the second one), different makeup (eye shadow, eyeliner and lipstick have been changed and there is no blush on the second one) and different color hair. I think she may have adjusted her chin slightly too, it’s hard to tell.

If you look at the third picture and compare it directly to the first, it’s very obvious that’s all it is. Graphically the eyes are the same, the hair has the same shine and amount of detail (though slightly muted because of the different shade of red and how the highlights are in the second), the skin looks just as good.

Lighting: basically same but a little less shiny hair in new one
-Not an issue for me
Shading: Looked closely, no difference
.. unless you count the completely different make up.

Texture, slightly better in old one, I’ll give you that.
But I believe she admitted that she took the new images at a lower resolution than the old one.
Doesn’t matter enough to me if that’s true or not, still an improvement over what we have now
