I’m a builder as well and the fact that they keep going on and on about emotions and how the Sims will look is a big turn off for me, making it one of the big reasons why I don’t plan to get the game. The other big reason being the lack of empty lots/ability to add more, with such ‘limited’ subneighborhoods.

We already know simpoints won’t cross over, but what about the *gulp* Launcher *shudder*.

One of those guys in the newscast mentioned something about there being a different way to get content in game without programs that sometimes had “problems/issues” or whatever (lol, you don’t say… XD). I hate sims3packs because of the Launcher — with package files it’s as easy as putting the file in the folder and loading the game, without all the hassle of downloading content, having the Launcher interfere and take it’s sweet time loading, so it takes a zillion years to get a dang dining table in game. And downloading/installing whole worlds and sets? O_O A nightmare. And uninstalling content is even harder, especially content hiding out where the Launcher couldn’t find it and you’d have to mess with the DCCache folder for the rest of your life before hunting down unwanted/problematic content.

So I’m curious about that as well. HOW will all this content the newscast keeps referring to actually GET in my game, and how seamless — or not — will that process be? Don’t just tell me it’s fun and it’s great and whatever; who are these people anyway? *squints suspiciously* Cuz they’re saying a whole lot of nothing, IMO.

What about THE GAME ITSELF? Gameplay — and not just bars, chess, freaking Emotions!, and all the other crap TS3’s base game already had–what New and Improved things will we actually be getting? I swear, it’s like they’re rehashing the same news over and over–CAS a billion times and nothing else.

I’m a Builder — I don’t give a crap about CAS; modders have been fiddling with CAS on a professional level since TS2; we already KNEW that even if the game doesn’t include stuff we want — like CASt and alpha channels on hair *cough cough* — that the modders would’ve be ON that like white on rice, as they already proved as soon as the Demo hit and they started cracking those codes. We didn’t need a frikkin newscast to tell us that much, EA–what ELSE have you got, for pete’s sake? T_T

What will the build/buy mode sections look and feel be like? (How much content will be in each section, and will they simply be TS4 versions of the same old base game items we already have? Will we finally get hip new modern decor and architectural styles, rather than the same tired old country hewnsman mission collections? Will EA give us more cultural build mode pieces — TS3’s Cultural sets at the Store were big hits — will EA still be obsessed with Californian art deco themes again, or will we get something actually interesting and fresh for a change?

How’s everything categorized — will we get enough plants of different colors and saturation (no use asking for recolorable ones; thanks a lot EA >_>) What about unroutable terrain (I hope EA got rid of that — If I want my sims to climb to the top of the hill/cliff/mountain and yodel then that’s MY prerogative and MY sandbox; butt out of it!) And what about the build-buy cheats/ what about CFE, etc)? What about the world itself? How hard/easy will it be to edit the world (edit mode/ world editor/ CAW….)

In Buy mode will there be more CLUTTER (jeebus chrissy EA sucks with giving people enough clutter — and not just sculptures and bottles of lotion; I mean will we get kitchen clutter like cereal boxes and plate racks and fruit bowls, and bathroom clutter like toothbrushes and scrubbers and toilet covers/rugs and shower curtains) and persian rugs and lace curtains and throw pillows? And what about more surfaces/storage units and shelving units and displays and closets — instead of always making a zillion chairs all the time.

We already know EA hates kids and elders. How much will THEY be ignor–I–I mean allowed to do in-game?

I swear, I haven’t heard anything interesting YET, mere weeks before this apparently STILL unfinished game hits the shelves. SMDH

Things already in game for all players to use- CAS, CASt, Build Mode, technically are not mods. They’re in game features.

That’s what CAS, Build Mode, and the late lamented CaST are. For the vast majority of other games, to do the stuff those tools let you do, you have to make mods externally. Naturally those systems are not sufficient to keep players happy though 😉

This was clearly just an opportunity for EA to generate some hype for the game, rather than get to know and correspond with talented members of the CC community. If they actually had cared to involve the top CC creators in development, the game would be in a far, far better place than it is right now. 😛

Obviously the devs aren’t directly at fault for all the firings. Avant’s points are quite valid.

Honestly, shallow hype-generating pieces like this do very little to impress me. I’m glad others can get excited over such trivial news stories, but we already knew CC was going to be possible as well as encouraged. It doesn’t change the fact I will be waiting until AFTER the game’s release to consider getting into it. I could never justify pre-ordering any game from EA anymore.

This is because I was able to look past what was not in the game to see some of the new things that are in it. I’m a storyteller in The Sims and having stronger emotions and new gameplay such as traveling between worlds might actually be something worth getting so I agree 3/4th full!

And even then, only grudgingly. Heh.

But yes, compared to Sims2, they made Sims3 difficult to add CC/Mods to without jumping through a few hoops.}:/

I don’t think we’ll ever see them fully concede and give players a in game modding system, honestly.
