Its already been confirmed that we can edit residential and community lots. However, we can’t edit the public spaces in between the the lots, at least not yet.

Hopefully EA will eventually come out with some kind of world editor.

People are so upset over all the missing things when constantly in the videos and comments made about TS4 is that they are “building a strong foundation.” Which is why its the base game. I mean I’m not to horrified by missing pools or toddlers but TS3 was the same except they were focusing on open world.

I build & I play, so I am both Sims conscious & environment/world conscious as a poster suggested above.
One of the most enjoyable things for me in the game when I felt in the mood
was to alter the Sims surroundings in the world both in TS2 & in TS3.
I did it when I felt creative & when the design just didn’t work, for example, residences scattered all over the place mixed with venues or rabbit holes in between.
It’s more aesthetically pleasing & helps the Sims logistically to have venues in one area & residences in another.
Very sad to hear they took that ability away in TS4.

I happen to love Sims Freeplay but don’t love how they sleep on top of the covers. ha

I really hope we can choose between no covers, and covers!

If I went to university its about 5 minutes tops. It all depends on how much stuff you have loaded and what kind of computer specs you have.

There seem to be two camps forming up, even if it’s not realized as of yet. One that’s happy with the changes for the most part(sim camp) and one that is, shall we say less then optimally motivated by what’s been presented(world camp).

I’ve gone through and have read what’s on this page but haven’t taken the time to fully explore the older posts. For those I’ve dubbed ‘sim camp’ it feels like these players are far more focused on the individual characters or ‘sims’ and the ways in which the world revolves around them. While the ‘world camp’ as I’m calling them seem to have a much stronger affinity to the architectural ‘sandbox’ aspect of game play that was much more expansive in the previous iterations of this franchise.

At it’s original core the sims was originally conceptualized as an architectural design software program. People simulators or ‘sims’ were added to help study the ways in which any given design might function realistically and to point out design flaws in it’s usability for ideas that may have looked really cool on paper. Far easier to redesign when you haven’t broken ground then to have to redesign an existing building.

Over the years as this program evolved into a commercial game and gained an ever increasing sophistication, visual fidelity, and interactivity, the two general area’s of focus of this game, building and character development, have seen a fairly even progression. Tending a bit more towards town/city building with the sims 3.

This latest version is I think much more focused on the sims themselves. I think that if you look at this from that standpoint, the decisions about smaller neighborhoods, limited number of lots, and short loading times between lots makes much more sense.

For myself I probably fall much more in line with the architectural side of the game play. But I still enjoy very much the other aspects of the game. And I’m looking forward to playing this and seeing what kind of game play will emerge.

I would suggest however for everyone to try and think on this title as it’s own game. Instead of being ‘better’ or ‘worse’ than previous versions.

It’s called Smartsim. It may have been written in the same or similar programing language, but there’s nothing wrong with that.

There was an original small world, which got bigger with expansion packs. In the case of sims 4 they will probably add a new neighborhood with each expansion pack. So for instance seasons, they’ll probably add a beach type neighborhoods to existing towns. At least I hope so, cause 25 lots per world is not a lot in my opinion…
