I don’t think this has to do with sales. It is a strategy with most games to have an inertial price for those who are already willing to buy it then they do a small discount to grab any on the fence. Phones, games, many products get this strategy employed.

Because they, like me in Australia, already pay inflated prices. In the US, it’s $60. In Australia, it’s $85 USD. Even with a ‘discount’, it’s still overpriced compared to the US.
