However, I’m pretty sure you can adopt out pets, so if you do have an autonomous litter you could probably give them to other sims in your town.

Neutering/spaying your pets is a whole lot more humane than letting them breed knowing there won’t be enough homes for all of them, and some of the babies getting killed in an animal shelter later on. Massive pet overpopulation leads to animals being killed in shelters. I guess you aren’t concerned about that, though.
