I never said the playable Lots were locked. I said the buildings and shops we can see on the other side of the road are not actual Lots and are therefore not playable. There are only four (or five) ACTUAL Lots in that town picture that we can actually build and play on.

Also, since I’m getting strong New England vibes from the town, you can also pretend that Sims aren’t going into the water because it’s simply too cold. In Maine and New Hampshire, even in the summer, ocean temperatures rarely get above 60°F (16°C). Not exactly the best place to go for a casual dip, lol.

I really like that it’s a coastal-themed place so much! <3
I am a bit obsessed with nautical stuff, so a town of it is awesome!
Although I wish some of it wasn't just for show… 🙁

Since I'm sad we can't use oceans, but I love having a coastal/nautical town, I'm pretending Sims can't go into the water because it's not safe for swimming. (riptides, rough water, etc…)

* Many yrs ago, (IRL) I never knew about riptides, and lived near the beach.
Of course loving the ocean, I thought it would be ok to take a swim out, since it was a nice day. (I used to jump off my uncle's yacht with my cousins – far from shore, swimming all around like a fish, so I was used to the ocean.)
But this day, I swam out a little too far. I started swimming back, only to realize I wasn't getting any closer to shore! O.O
Thankfully I was eventually able to get back to shore, by swimming a little further out – parallel to shore – then trying again to swim towards shore.
Years later I found out that I had been in a riptide.
Seemingly calm waters can really hide danger, even close to shore.
The color/darkness, of the water is only one of the warnings.
Anyway, I live in a different place now, but still around water, lol, but I made sure to teach my kids about the dangers, since it is very easy to miss if not careful.
The ocean is beautiful but dangerous…

Sadly, only four (maybe five) of those Lots in the town scene are playable though. The ones on the side of the road closest to us.

Looks bland, lifeless, and empty and static and non-interactive as all the other worlds. A major issue with Sims 4.
