Did you see the latest statement from EA? This isn’t new, they just had to make it REALLY clear for perma Paywallers, because it is obvious from the original TOU. People who want to avoid playing by the rules, will look for any turn of phrase, that may let them get away with it. Bottom line. Once content is in a .package file it belongs to EA.

You seem to be missing the whole picture!! This paying CC is getting out of control!!! I have personally
bought stuff but the thing is Patreon creators and merchandise is out of hand!!! And you and I might have the funds to purchase CC but not all simmers can so that is wrong!!! Period!!!! And a lot of the creators at Patreon are having their stuff not accessible ever!! And their fees also keep going up and up!!! If they want to keep it for 2 or 3 weeks thats one thing and then releasing it to the public but never allowing the CC or mods be available is wrong!!! Making mods & CC is a hobby and if they want a little something for their time is one thing but making enough so they do not have to work is another!!!!

These comments are wild, and really demonstrate the average IQ of a sims fan. There’s children bringing up contract law and TOS and EULA even in cases where someone did not use EA’s intellectual property or any of their products. It isn’t even clear if the EA employee’s quote is just recommending that creators release patreon content to the general public 2-3 weeks after private release, or saying prohibited not to.

You don’t need to use the sims 4 to make a hair from scratch, or to package it in a .package file and add all the necessary info to make it work in TS4. You aren’t using EA’s IP by simply stating the fact that your content is for the sims 4. You can’t communicate what your file is without stating the game it’s for. To argue that you are bound by EA’s TOS or EULA after doing any of those things is ridiculous and I’d love to see that case go to court. Ea would never take it to court, though, they have a legal department who knows they’d lose trying to prosecute someone for making a file that’s compatible with their game LOL.

Content (the EA employee didn’t say custom content, they could conceivably mean machinina) that is made using the game, such as edited hairs based on EA meshes, can reasonably be argued to be stuff that shouldn’t be paywalled, because ultimately it’s using EA’s model/mesh/texture. It’s using EA’s IP. I don’t know if it’s overreach for EA to say that machinima or pictures of TS4 can’t be permanently a

Cosplay Simmer, along with everyone listed here (https://www.downwithpatreon.org/ts4patreon.php) (without exception, even though some of them are releasing their content for free eventually, they’re still breaking the ‘within 2 weeks’ part of the Patreon clause), is breaking those rules as well.

Exactly. Creating for TS4 (or any other sims game) is only a hobby. It is a CHALLENGING hobby, but it is not a job. Period.

Stop making up lies!

1. I NEVER reported any CC/Mod makers, ever!

2. I am NOT defending EA, or anyone.
I only gave my opinion on the article this site posted, unlike you, that harassed me for my opinion on it.

3. I am not trying or wanting to hurt anyone financially.
If EA says don’t do it, I don’t “thumb my nose at them” and do it anyway!
