Yeah, a LOT of people are upset about this feature alright. The frustration and annoyance is real. Big hopes and expectations got crushed by this announcement (especially since the Game Changers hyped it up so much). It’s yet another disappointment with this game, the latest in a not so short line of them. I don’t see myself using this, either.

As for GF feeling more like a glorified GP than a proper EP, the same can also be said about the other EPs so far. What else is new, right?

I don’t know what kind of resources it could have used, but certainly not development resources. The first person feature was developed from start to finish in someone’s own time (including testing and polishing). All that was left to do during work hours was compile the file(s) and put them into the game. Compiling a finished script is basically just pressing a button and waiting until the compiling is finished, then the compiled files are applied to the game by placing them where they need to be in the game folders. The latter step is also what happens when we update our game in Origin.

Either way, the feature exists. Some will like or find use in it, some won’t. It certainly has an audience, especially in storytellers and machinima makers.

Also I call major horse manure on this Guru having worked on it on his free time for funsies. At least the implementation of it in the main game’s engine must have taken some on-the-clock it. At the very least.
