If only they had that same amount of enthusiasm for actual bug fixes and improvements. Like, there are still a plethora of glitches and bugs (i.e. simulation lag) that have been around since launch, too.

Anyways – when I was on my sister’s PC every time I used the color wheel I experienced some major lag, she said it’s the same thing for her, that’s why I assume the color wheel does have to do something with it. Although create a style lagged the game more because of all the texures I assume, the color wheel contributed to it as well in my experiences.

And while I know that the thing that’d lag the game wouldn’t be the color wheel but the poor coding and lots of other features, I’m fairly certain the same thing would happen in TS4 where even opening the gallery freezes the game. At least for me it almost always does (and my PC isn’t even that bad). I’d expect the color wheel to do the exact same thing if it came to TS4, because I do not think the game would be prepared and fixed before that update.

Apart from the game shugging a little bit while all of the textures in the selected category were loading up (and once all patterns were loaded, all was normal again), CASt really did not have any effect on the game’s performance.
