Each swatch has it’s own class, and can be instantiated as a separate object.

And in a lot of ways and factors, the Sims 4 is a downgrade from Sims 3 in that Sims can no longer travel by car, there are no stores for the Sims to shop, etc. In the base game, there is far less diversity in the amount of locations/things in them. To tell the truth, if the modding community wasn’t so great, I wouldn’t likely even still be playing 4.

A Sims with no rabbit holes at all. That’s probably a thing for Sims 5, as would be redoing the lots/world system. The Sims 3 setup was far superior there.

Height slider. Very rarely are men/women the same height. Most of the mods available have been made extinct by recent patches.

More realistic career tracks/choices added. I’m sure if you pick up the classifieds of your local newspaper, or even went online; you will not find astronaut, secret agent (though I do admit, the FBI was taking applications at a career fair in my Southwest Virginia county; and NASA has been to them before). The trades is sorely missing, as is agriculture. EMS/Paramedics should either be a career track on its own, or a career track/choice of a firefighting career after a certain level. After ages of playing the Emergency series of games, I would like to see realistic emergencies (fire/technical rescue/medical) to be handled by the Sim in that career; not chasing after garden gnomes. And to an extent, in law enforcement as well.

All in all, the Sims being a better representation of real life; but I’m sure to keep it as attractive to general audiences as possible, there’s a lot of stuff we won’t see.

Is that true?

I would love burglars to make a comeback at some point in a free patch. I’m not a programmer but it doesn’t seem that hard to implement. I would have preferred it over a rebrand or decor anyway.

I agree the consumer feedback is most important, but if you’re not detecting it accurately, then you’ll either need specialists to interact with the community, and determine what they really want, or just focus on the developers’ vision. From my position, as a non-employee and regular community-member, I don’t see any genuine feedback, and I’m fully aware of the communication/social barriers.

Are they paying you? You just like EA are completely out of touch with what the fan want, you know the people who actually play the game and buy the product. Acting like a sanctimonious mansplaning fanboy isn’t going to make TS4 a successful game, but giving the fans what they ask for (in the realm of it actually being possible and plausible) is. It’s thanks to modders that The Sims in all it’s iterations is successful as it is and has lasted as long as it has period. The Sims 4 especially owes much of it’s success to the modding community, even EA knows this hence all the Game Changers mishegoss. A huge majority of simming community uses mods or else EA wouldn’t be trying to suck up to modders to the point of making them npc in their games.

It’s pretty easy to determine what fans (sims fans are very vocal about their wants just read the comments in this thread) want and if you can’t do that then you have absolutely no business making games in the first place. That’s why EA sends out surveys to determine what is the fans want it’s not neuroscience it’s common sense. You make a game based on what the people who are buying the product want that’s business 101 and if in twenty years you can’t determine what your fans want then you are doing it wrong.

Modder: Does anyone want to customize and extend the product?
Community: *no response

Modder: Does anyone want custom feature x?
Community: No, but we sure do love -insert impossible option-!

Modder: Boy, there are too few responses to these queries.
Community: This isn’t your product.

Modder: Does anyone need help with fixes or personal projects?
Community: Modding is a sin! But that one central command tuning mod is the best, check out -insert page reference here-.

Community: The devs have really failed us, but thanks to modders, we’re still hanging on.

Modder: Who is we? And what if I told you that you can fix it all with ease, thanks to the hard work and intelligence of the devs?
Community: You’re wrong, the devs are failures, and you’re off-topic.

Modder: Here’s an example of what I’ve told you about. See! The Sims 4 really is a great product!
Community: But why would we want to do any of those things. Typing is work, and the devs should have added the button anyway.

Modder: OK, I’ll add the button for you!
Community: Modding is a sin!

The problem is that there is really no way to determine what the fans really want, therefore, neither the devs, nor the modders, can “do the work fans are actually asking for.”
