They work for a company, not for themselves like modders, and use the company’s resources and money to develop this game, so they can’t do whatever they please whenever they please, and can’t dedicate as much time as they want to something. They have to listen to high ups, and get a certain amount time and budget approved to work on something. And you know when it’s a company as greedy as EA that likes to milk their customers as dry as dry can be, it will be especially bad.

Modders don’t work for anyone, don’t have to anwser to a company, so they can do as they please. They have much more freedom.

I’m also not saying the team always makes the best use if their limited development resources, though.

It’s pretty obvious what I am saying. Modders unpaid get things out at a very quick pace, I’m talking a fix just a few days after an expansion has been released (and they only work on what I presume to be their free time from their jobs and responsibilities). Why is it modders are not an argument when in many cases are often more competent for content than the own developers of the game who have 8 hours+ shifts and get paid to do this? I think it’s pretty obvious all the wrong choices are being made here because if they were being smart, they’d not only hire more people, but also provide a steady consistent amount of quality content that would in turn earn them more profit. If it’s not the developers fault, why can’t the community leaders present to higher ups what needs to be done? Or is it that the ENTIRE team is that incompetent and skill scarce?

Modders, who do this on their own time, have a lot more freedom as to what they can create and when, as opposed to employees doing it as a job and having to listen to higher ups and shareholders; they can’t just do whatever they want whenever they want.

I’ve seen an expansion come out and a Modder develop a fix within days! Not to mention within a month they’ve produced a lot of free content (clothing hair etc) on what I presume to be their free time, because you know they have bills too right?

I would come up for air long enough to download CC and mods and then go back and use that. My kids were babies and my husband was out of the country so I had many nights just playing and having fun. ..TS4 seriously has to be played in moderation because everything gets old quick…..no matter what they add to the game, nothing is more important to a Sim than to dance and get overly attracted to the silliest things that modders have to tune down!!

Yes, they’re not employed by EA, but they’re pretty much unpaid interns, because The Sims team just leaves it up to modders to fix a lot of their issues.

And I get that the Maxis employees have a bunch of different factors to deal with, but at some point that just becomes an excuse for no real innovation. If modders and creators can be inspired to come up with amazing things purely because of their love of the franchise, surely the actual employees can do better than making talking toilets and new door swatches when they’re getting paid.

This doesn’t change Maxis’ current priorities but we like to know what you’re all interested in!

Translation. We love to PRETEND we are listening, but what you want doesn’t really matter. It’s what WE want and OUR priorities what matter at the end.

Its flat out saying they don’t care, don’t give me that “current” argument. Furthermore, they’ve already shown us time and time again that they’re making poor choices. As a company a community survey should let them know where they’re wrong and make adjustments as I’m sure people have let them have it
