I’ve been complaining about Dine Out since the beginning of time to deaf ears. I have to use mods for my sims to have a meal without getting up and walking around leaving their dates, or dates not finishing their meals. I am beyond frustrated. Sometimes the mods work, sometimes they don’t. I still haven’t found a way for meals to end before 6 hours.

Object fading is a design choice/intentional (has been a thing as far back as 2), and they did address sim. lag. being a long-term issue outside the laundry lists

this laundry list never really addresses the fading trees and columns, and the lagging constant dumb thinking of the sim since day 0

hmm, never have done the Business Side of it (forget that it even exists), i’m sure that will be almost non-functional like every other failed business, but it’s fine just going the to an unowned lot, about 2.5 hours not much longer than a home cooked meal trying to feed a family of 8 ..

Sims in my game always play musical chairs in restaurants, never eat their food and just drink their drinks, and doesn’t matter if the restaurant is visited or owned. Mods can eliminate these two problems if/when a patch doesn’t break them.

What I can’t fix is staff not doing anything half the time; could be just the chef not cooking, could be a waiter/waitress, could be some, or on unlucky days, all of them just “striking”. I know how the restaurants work with employee skills, satisfaction, etc when owned and no, my problems totally ignore whether an employee is well paid, well trained, has full needs and fully satisfied with their job or not. Not related to simulation lag. The previously (supposedly) fixed bug with the best chefs cooking poor quality food still haunts my game, too.

I genuinely don’t have any real issues with Dine Out. The only weird thing is occassionally my guests don’t eat their food (maybe they weren’t hungry? unclear). They only get up when there isn’t space, they need to go pee, or if you queue up interactions that require standing for some reason. But they pretty much order, their food is delivered before too long, they eat it, and can order several courses even if they want to. No taking forever, bothering the neighbors, doing the waitress jobs…

Although I’ve ONLY used them as destinations, and not tried to actually have my sims run them yet. And I’ve only used that pack relatively recently, rather than when it came out. Maybe it’s buggier when you’re the one running the place?

It’s frustating as hell, doing missions having to put up with so many loading screens only to get rewarded with no checks and frozen progressed missions leaving you no other choice but to quit mission and pick another corrupt buggy one.

IDK why everyone complains that Dine Out doesn’t work, most cases I’ve been able to order a meal, it arrives, and I eat it, pay then go home, it’s not perfect but it’s generally reliable for me.

Dine out is the buggiest DLC. Has been from release… till today. It’s a shame because it’d be a neat DLC otherwise.

All my diners keep getting up from their table and talking to other sims, making their meals last 6+ hours.
