I stopped caring.
As for this “news” item, numbers are being thrown around without any verification or a proper source. That’s not journalism, it’s gossip with a game of telephone.
As for TS4 being both trash and popular, Sturgeon’s Law applies to both humans and our thoughts, just like everything else. We are the all singing, all dancing crap of the universe.
Wallowing in shiny garbage is the core loop of Western Civilization.

The gurus behaviour and treatment of this 4th game is what is gross. That is just how I see it.

Sounds like its performing poorly compared to what it used to be and could be 6 or 7 spots higher.

As someone who peruses Sim discussions (rarely comments), the online community feels bigger that what it is.

And i agree (to an extent) that sales aren’t that telling of satisfaction, but I think there is a level of you have to “like it enough” to buy the 20th expansion. If folks cant stand the core mechanics of game, think the team working on the game is trash, and don’t think ts5 would be any better (as some online users would suggest), I don’t see how that equates to a purchase of any kind.

All I’m saying is when I see sales like that, even if people bought it for the reasons you stated above, it makes me say “oh, in the grand scheme, people don’t hate it THAT bad.” I’m probably reading too much into comments. What’s new. 🙂

Also players who have never had a PC and therefore don’t realize how good Sims could be. My old coworker only plays Sims 4 on PS4 and doesn’t remember much of Sims 2 and 3. She has also never had a taste of CC, so she probably doesn’t realize how pointless some of the packs really are.

The sims team are rushing trough all the themes leaving them all halfbaked. No thanks.

We will never stop seeing articles, think pieces and opinion on the detrimental issues brought up by the gacha, lootbox business but at the end of the year, it’s clearly evident that they generate huge revenues that traditional full-price AAA games often wouldn’t.

I haven’t bought a single expansion, pack or kit for Sims 4.

Most of the game’s profits are probably going towards other things.
