Create-a-Sim Outfit Filters
Three brand new clothing categories were added to The Sims 4 with the pre-seasons game patch. With The Sims 4 Seasons installed, two of these categories protect Sims from the weather. The third is exclusively for toddlers.
“Hot Weather” and “Cold Weather” filters are now available in CAS. These categories allow you to choose clothing that shields Sims from hot and cold weather elements. Sims can die by freezing and overheating when Temperature Effects are enabled, so it’s important that they have outfits set for the weather.
❗ Any outfits assigned to Sims in these categories will shield them from the elements. If you want your Sims to stay warm wearing bikinis during winter, then so be it.
❗ The game will automatically set default clothing items in these categories to ensure Sims are protected when they go outside. You can take your Sims into Create-a-Sim to change these outfits at any time.
The 3rd category is Swimwear for Toddlers. The Sims 4 Seasons introduces a new Kiddie Pool object Toddlers can swim in, so they now have a dedicated category for swimwear.
New Game Additions
There is a brand new Achievement available with The Sims 4 Seasons. When completing certain actions within your game, you can unlock special badges and collect points. To learn more about achievements in The Sims 4, see the full list of The Sims 4 Achievements.
|Polar Bear Club||Have a Sim go for a swim while the weather is freezing.|
New Music Genre/Radio Station
The Sims 4 Seasons adds the new “Summer Strut” music genre to the game. You can listen to the new music and stations in game via the stereo and speaker systems.
New Television Channels
There are new “Weather Forecast” and “Season Premier” television channels added to the game. Weather Forecast is available to watch all the time, but the Season Premier option only appears when the special “TV Season Premiere” Holiday appears in game.
The following 6 Season Premier shows are seen in the game:
- Waltzing with Celebrities Premiere
- Odder Things Premiere
- Real Housewives of Windenburg Premiere
- The Last Sim on Earth Premiere
- Peach is the New Orange Premiere
- Game of Llamas Premiere
There is also 1 additional TV channel tied to a specific Holiday Tradition. “New Year’s Eve TV” is available on the TV during Holidays with the “Countdown to Midnight” tradition. At 11pm, a special “Watch the Countdown” interaction becomes available on the TV, and Sims in a household will ring in the new year together.
❗ The Sims 4 Seasons unlocks the Fireplace Channel that was previously only available with a level 10 Handiness Skill. The channel is available during the Winter Season.
If you own The Sims 4 Get Together Expansion, Seasons adds five new Club Activities and one Club Requirement. The “+2 Flower Arranging Skill” and “Summer/Spring/Winter/Fall & Skating Activities” are new options available when picking club requirements and activities.
The Sims 4 Seasons introduces a new career-like activity called Scouts. Children and Teens can join Scouts by using their phone to “Join After School Activity” (C) and “Find a Job” (T).
❗ All Scouts attend meetings every Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 4pm.

To ensure progress in this 5-level career, Sims are rewarded the Scouting Badge Board for joining. This object includes interactions that help Sims advance in their Scouting Career.
The following interactions are available on the Scouting Board:
- Change Into Scouting Uniform
- Collect Badge
- View Badge Progress
- Put in Inventory
Sims can keep track of their tasks, ideal mood, and advancement requirements in the school/career panel. To advance to the next level, Sims will have to start earning scout badges. The badge requirements can be accessed by using the “View Badge Progress” interaction on the scouting board. There are a total of 9 scouting badges to be collected.
❗ Sims who earn at least one scout badge will unlock the “Scout Cookies” recipe. Children will have to become Teens before they are able to cook them.
❗ Completing all 5 levels of the Scouting Career will grant Sims the Scouting Aptitude Reward Trait. This trait allows them to gain skills 25% faster for the rest of their life.
❗ Badge icons will appear above the heads of Children and Teens who are performing activities that help them increase badge progress. Once the badge is unlocked a special pop up will appear on the screen.
The Sims 4 Seasons adds new interactions to Children’s activity tables. Seasons includes a new version of the table as well, but the interactions can be used on all activity tables. The following new options are available for Children:
- Make <Season> Crafts
- Make Holiday Crafts
- Grand Meal
- Romantic Gifts
- Winterfest Spirit
- Midnight Celebration
All crafts created on the activity table can be placed in a Sim’s inventory, and displayed on shelves, mantles, tables, or walls.
Shower and Play in the Rain
When it starts to rain outside, Sims aged Teen and Older can click the ground and select the “Shower in the Rain” interaction. Additionally, Sims aged Child and Older can have a little fun outside and run around in the rain using the “Play in the Rain” interaction.
The Sims 4 Seasons introduces Gift Giving between Sims. Gift Giving is found under the “Friendly” social, and Sims can give a variety of gifts to other Sims. “Simoleons” and “Friendly Gifts” are the two options available to Sims giving gifts.
❗ Gifting Simoleons within an active household will not deduct household funds. The only time gifting simoleons deducts from the household fun, is when Sims gift money to non-household members and townies.
The Simoleons gift giving option allows Sims to gift §100, §500, §1,000, §5,000, and §10,000 to other Sims. The Friendly gift giving option allows Sims to gift items from their inventory to other Sims. You can purchase items in buy mode, the computer, or the phone with the new “Purchase Gifts” interaction. Gift piles can be gifted too.
Singing Holiday Songs
The Sims 4 Seasons introduces the new “Sing Together” interaction. This option appears by clicking the ground when Sims celebrate a Holiday. Sims can select any of the 5 available songs. Sims can sing solo, or with other members of the household. Additionally, the “Sing about Holiday” social appears when clicking other Sims.
❗ If you have The Sims 4 City Living Expansion Pack installed, using this interaction in the game will help increase a Sim’s Singing Skill.
Water Balloon Fights
Whether they need to cool off in the heat, or just want to have a little extra fun, Sims can now have Water Balloon Fights with others. The Water Balloon bucket can be purchased in buy mode for §35 simoleons, or Sims can use any of the available buckets found in public spaces during summer. Click on the bucket to Play and Refill with Water Balloons.
When it rains outside and water puddles accumulate on the ground, they will sometimes turn into mud puddles. Sims can interact with the mud puddles using any of the two new interactions: Play In or Have a Mud Fight. These interactions will affect a Sim’s hygiene.
One of the noticeable changes during Fall is the color changing trees and the leaves that fall from them. During this time of the year, leaves will begin to accumulate on the ground, and this enables a new interaction for Sims as young as children. Use the “Rake Leaves” interaction to have Sims clean up the leaves and create Leaf Piles.
❗ If you have The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack installed, raking leaves will allow Children and Teens to increase their Responsibility Character Value.
As Sims continue to rake leaves, the interaction will generate leaf piles on the lot. Leaf piles can also be found around town in public spaces, but regardless of how the leaf piles are formed, they include 8 brand new interactions:
- Rake Leaves
- Play In
- Throw Away
- Hangout (Requires Burning)
- Play With (Requires Burning)
- Try for Baby
Leaf Pile Woohoo
The Sims 4 Seasons introduces a new Woohoo location for Sims. Any Sims that are in a romantic relationship can use a Leaf Pile to “Woohoo” or “Try for a Baby”. Want to check out the new Woohoo spot in action? Click here for a game play video!
When winter rolls into town, plenty of new fun activities are available for Sims. As long as it snows frequently and stays chilly outside, snow will begin accumulate on the ground. When enough snow is present, Sims of all ages can click the snow and enjoy some new activities.
❗ If you have The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack installed, shoveling snow will allow Children and Teens to increase their Responsibility Character Value.
When blizzards and heavy snow come to town, snow drifts will be present on lots. Sims can use the “Shovel Snow” interaction to clear the area, or use any of the other 7 interactions:
- Shove Snow At
- Make Snow Angel
- Play in Snow
- Have a Snowball Fight With
- Build Snowpal
- Build Snowpal With
- Continue Building Snowpal
Snowpals are the only activity that offer additional interactions. Sims can build one of 5 types of Snowpals. All 5 Snowpal designs come in 1, 2, and 3 ball varieties, offering a total of 15 different Snowpals to build. The type of Snowpal a Sim will build is random.
Sims can use the “Build Snowpal” and “Build Snowpal With” interactions on the ground to start building. “Destroy” and “Rename” are two interactions available for Sims of All ages, however, there are some additional interactions available to Toddlers and Children.
- Declare as Ultimate Snowpal! (Children Only)
- Rebuild Ultimate Snowpal (Children Only)
- Vent Frustrations
- Joke About Ice
- Share Embarrassments
- Tell Heroic Story
- Tell Romantic Story
- Tell Snowy Story
- Tell a Sad Tale
- Tell Story
Toddlers and children build relationships with the Snowpals they interact with them. These relationships are visible in the relationship panel, and once they max out their friendship with a Snowpal, Children can “Declare” a Snowpal as their “Ultimate” friend. This allows them to rebuild the same exact Snowpal in the future.
❗ The Ultimate Snowpal interaction is perfect for children who want to rebuild their frosty friend every winter. Each year they can build the same Snowpal with the same name and relationship level.
❗ If you have The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack installed, toddlers, children, and teens can be grounded and yelled at for destroying Snowpals. Parents can also encourage this type of behavior as well.
Recipes & Drinks
The Sims 4 Seasons adds 8 brand new food and drink recipes. Sims with at least a level 1 in the Cooking Skill can use the “Cook a Grand Meal” option on the stove/fridge for new food to serve, and Sims can purchase a Tea Brewer to craft the new drink.
❗ There are an additional 8 Food and Drink items added to the game, but these items are only available for purchase via the brand new Seasonal Food Stalls.
Food Stalls are a new object that allows Sims to purchase a variety of foods and drinks in the game. Food Stalls spawn in public areas of each world, and there is one new food stall for every season. Sims can visit food stalls to purchase the new food and drink items.
❗ There are an additional 8 Food and Drink items added to the game, but these items are only available to Sims when cooking at home.
The game adds 10 brand new harvestables to the already existing Gardening Collection. These new items can be collected from the new Seasonal Seed Packets that unlock at levels 4 and 5 of the Gardening Skill. Purchase them in buy mode or on a PC.
There is also a brand new Gardening Career available with The Sims 4 Seasons, so check out the Gardening Career section of the guide for details on the new gardening additions.
The Sims 4 Seasons introduces a fan favorite: The Money Tree. With a little work and some patience, it can prove to be a very lucrative investment. The Money Tree seed can be purchased via the Aspiration Rewards Store for 5,000 Satisfaction Points, and grown in all four seasons. It may take time to gather all those satisfaction points, but it’s worth it!
Growing the money tree is half the fun. The Money Tree takes about 7 days to fully bloom as a golden money tree, and will produce up to §22,000 Simoleons daily, depending on the quality of the plant. Sims cannot harvest the money fruit from the trees, so unless they purchase more seeds, they will only be able to Sell them for simoleons.
❗ Moving a “ready to pick” money tree into the Family Inventory will yield 5 money tree fruits. This is the only way to get additional seeds without paying for them.
❗ Money Trees produce more Simoleons as they evolve and increase in quality. Using the “Take Cutting” interaction on money trees reduces the amount of Simoleons.
- Normal Quality (§8,000)
- Nice Quality (§11,500)
- Excellent Quality (§15,110)
- Magnificent Quality (§18,670)
- Perfect Quality (§22,225)
Trick or Treat
When creating Holidays that include the “Trick or Treat” Tradition, children and teens from around the neighborhood will knock on the door to get their sweets. Adult Sims can click on kids who knock on the door and use the “Trick” or “Treat” interactions.
❗ If you own The Sims 4 Spooky Stuff, the game allows you to place the interactive Candy Bowl on the lot for kids to take the candy on their own. Unfortunately, it seems that this interaction is bugged and it doesn’t count towards completing the tradition.
❗ Children are supposed to able to participate in this tradition, but this seems to be bugged as well. Only Teens/Adults have interactions available with trick or treaters who come and knock on the door. This results in them not completing the tradition.
The Sims 4 Seasons introduces a way for Sims to “Hunt Eggs” in order to complete the Decorative Egg Collection. This action was previously available only during EA’s special “Spring Egg Hunt” challenges dating back to 2015.
When Sims participate in Holidays that include the “Egg Hunt” Tradition Sims as young as Toddlers can now complete the collection by clicking on items around the lot and using the “Hunt for Egg” interaction. (Fridges, Bushes, Beds, etc).
❗ Alternatively, Teens and Adult Sims can use the mean “Fight Flower Bunny for Eggs” social to try and collect eggs that way. Sims who triumph against the Flower Bunny will receive one decorative egg in their inventory.
❗ Once a Sim finds all 12 decorative eggs, they be rewarded with an all new object: Bun Bun The Bunny. This object is found in Buy Mode > Toys.
The Sims 4 Seasons adds a new Surprise Holiday to the game called The Lottery. This Holiday will appear at random, and offers Sims in the world a chance to win big. If your Sims want the chance to become a Sim-millionaires, they will need to purchase a Lottery Ticket (§100) from their cell phone or computer. (Limit 1 ticket per Adult Sim)
❗ The Lottery appears randomly in the game on Wednesdays. Sims have until 2am Thursday to purchase tickets, and the winner is drawn on Thursday at 10am. The game will generate a notification of who won The Lottery.
❗ Sims have a 1 in 100 chance of winning the lottery. If you have 5 Adult Sims in your household and they each purchase a ticket, the household would then have a 5 in 100 chance of winning. The game selects a random Sim during the drawing.
❗ Sims who win the lottery will receive §1,000,000 Simoleons.
When creating or participating in Holidays that include the “Holiday Gnomes” Tradition, it will unlock new interactions on gnomes placed in a home. Sims as young as Children can participate in this tradition, and the following interactions are available:
- Appease the Gnome (Results in Bad or Good Auras)
- Give Pie
- Give Toy
- Give Salad
- Give Coffee
- Give Fruitcake
- Give Future Cube
- Plead for Forgiveness
- Kick Gnome
Good Auras will make the gnomes leave special seasonal seed packets around your home, help clean up trash, clean up puddles, and even tend to a garden.
Bad Auras will cause gnomes to destroy objects around the home, create water puddles, and ruin electronics. Sims can either Plead for Forgiveness or just Kick the Gnome.
Using the “Plead for Forgiveness” interaction on Bad Aura gnomes will either turn it into a Good Aura, or the gnomes will strike Sims with lightning as a warning. Sims who choose to “Kick the Gnome” will enrage the entire crew of gnomes. Appeasement and Forgiveness will no longer be allowed for the remainder of the Holiday.
Once an angry mod of gnomes is active, their sole purpose is to destroy the lot. Sims must kick each and every gnome on the lot in order to stop the destruction. Kicking gnomes will result in random trash piles, collectibles, and Simoleons.
❗ Sims have a random chance of receiving §1 to §75, a 2.5% chance of receiving §1,000 to §5,000, and a 1% chance of kicking into a §1,000,000 gnome.
The Sims 4 Seasons introduces two new NPC’s to the game. The new NPC’s will appear during Holiday’s that include the “Father Winter” & “Flower Bunny” Traditions.
The Flower Bunny spreads flowers and gives hugs, and Father Winter will come down the chimney (if one is provided) and leave presents under the tree or in gift piles.
Father Winter even accepts requests for an additional present using the designated social interaction. Additionally, Sims can also Try for a Baby with Father Winter, who’s offspring will receive the special “Father Winter’s Baby” trait. Sims with this special trait will receive more Satisfactions Points than regular Sims do.
When creating or participating in Holidays that include the “Make Resolutions” Tradition, it will unlock a new “Make a Resolution” self-interaction on Sims. Sims as young as Children can participate in this tradition. The following options are available per age group:
❗ Sims will have 7 days to complete resolutions, and can only select one resolution per Holiday. Once Sims select a resolution, they can view progress in the Simology Panel. Completed Resolutions will reward Sims with 100 Satisfaction Points.
|Get More Social Media Followers - Get at least 100 followers within a week to complete this resolution. (Requires The Sims 4 City Living)
|Raise a Skill - Level up any skill within a week to complete this resolution.

The Sims 4 Seasons introduces the Calendar, an in-game feature that gives information on Seasons, Weather, Holidays, and Events. The household calendar can be accessed in the lower left hand side of the UI next to the telephone.
Upon opening the calendar, you will immediately notice several bits of information. The left side of the calendar displays the Forecast, and any Holidays or Events that are planned for the selected day. The right side of the calendar will display seasonal backgrounds, a 7-day Forecast, and various icons. Click any day to see specific information regarding holidays, works schedules, birthdays, and forecasts.
❗ Blue Icons represent Work/School Schedules, Pink Icons represent a Birthday, Weather Icons represent the forecast, and Other Icons represent Holidays/Events.
❗ The example calendar here displays a 7-day Seasonal cycle. If you use the game settings to increase the length of each season, pre-made Holidays will shift.
❗ If you create any of your own Holidays and Events, changing the season cycle will move them, or in some cases completely delete them.
The Sims 4 Seasons completely revamps the Events System in the game, allowing Sims to plan any of the already existing events in the game through the Calendar. To create a new Event, select the “Add Event” option in the Calendar.
❗ Multiple Events can be planned per day – up to 2 weeks in advance – but they cannot occur at the same time. Once an event is created, it can only be canceled. Editing is disabled for events.
❗ Events can be created and planned on the same day, but Goaled Events cannot be planned during a Holiday. Events are also a one time thing. Unlike Holidays, Events will not repeat or occur again unless you specifically plan it.
❗ Event planning remains the same as before. The only difference is they are planned through the Calendar, and you can select a specific time for an event to begin.
Holidays are special days that allow Sims to celebrate with unique traditions. The Sims 4 Seasons includes 4 “Pre-made” and 8 “Surprise” Holidays, but you can also create your own personal Holidays. To create a Holiday, select the “Add Holiday” option in the Calendar.
❗ Only one Holiday can be planned per day. If there’s an already existing Holiday on a day you’d like to select, you can edit and cancel the holiday right from the Calendar.
❗ Holidays are required to be schedule at least one day in advance. You cannot create any holidays on the current day, but you can always cancel and edit them.
❗ Holidays will occur every year on the same day. If you create a 5-day “Summer Break” Holiday for children in the summertime, they will get those days off every year when summer cycles through again. Cancel or edit anytime.
Once you enter the Create-a-Holiday panel, you have several options to customize. The following options are available when creating a custom Holiday:
Holiday Icon – At the top left of the holiday creator, you can select any of the 27 available holiday icons. This icon will will appear on the calendar to serve as a quick holiday reminder.
Holiday Name – At the top of the holiday creator, you can write in the name of your Holiday.
Decoration Theme – At the top right of the holiday creator, you can choose the decor theme of your event. You can choose any of the following options: None, Love Day, Harvestfest, New Year’s Eve, Spring, Spooky, or Winterfest. The decor type you select will determine the type of decorations available to your household via the Decoration Box. If you choose not to have a specific theme, Sims can only decorate the exterior of their own homes, and neighboring homes will not display any exterior decorations at all.
Day off Work/School – Right below the decoration theme is the school and work option. Select this box to determine whether Sims will have the day off school and work.
Holiday Traditions – At the bottom of the holiday creator you will find a list of 46 Traditions. If you have The Sims 4 City Living Expansion installed, you will also have the Fireworks Tradition, for a total of 47 Traditions. Some traditions enable new gameplay options.
Once you have determined the details of your event, select OK, and the Holiday will be automatically scheduled for the day you selected. All Holidays begin at 6am and end at 2am the following day. This allows enough time to complete activities and traditions.
The day before a Holiday is scheduled to take place, a pop up notification from the calendar will remind you. It will also have a special buy mode button button called “Show Holiday Objects”. Clicking this button will take you into buy mode and display a list of items that are required to complete the traditions in your holiday. There’s also a “Holiday Items” category in buy mode when the holiday begins.
When the Holiday begins, a tracker will appear on the top left side of the screen. This will give you information on the Holiday, including the traditions that must be completed. Each Holiday can have up to 5 traditions, or none at all. Traditions are things that Sims like to do, but in some cases may ignore completely depending on their age and traits.
❗ Sims who LOVE a tradition will show a heart icon behind the tradition’s icon.
❗ Sims who IGNORE a tradition will have a grayed out icon.
❗ Sims who have no preference will just see the icons as is.
Interactions that help complete any of the traditions will display the icon of the holiday. These interactions will help you complete what is needed in order to wrap up the holiday. Sims who complete all traditions will receive up to 500 satisfaction points as a reward.
Some traditions will require multiple interactions before being completedinfo. You can monitor progress on the holiday tracker. Completed traditions will display a solid gold check mark, and traditions that require a bit more work to complete will display a flashing one.
The Sims 4 Seasons includes 12 Pre-made and Surprise Holidays that will appear on the Calendar. Pre-made holidays appear on the calendar during specific seasons, and surprise holidays appear at random. The following Holidays will appear in the game:

Life can’t be all about holidays and snowball fights either. Eventually you may want to send your Sim to work to earn those sweet Simoleons. There is a brand new career for them to explore in The Sims 4 Seasons called the Gardener. When you accept the job you’ll be prompted to get a jump start on your first work from home assignment.
Like the careers added in the City Living Expansion Pack (Critic, Politician, Social Media) your sim has the option to work from home. An hour before your shift starts you will get a text alert on your sims phone that allows you to choose whether you’d like to work from home or go to work.
If they choose to work from home, they’ll be assigned a work from home assignment. Completing this assignment will affect their job performance (potential to be promoted) and their pay. You’re only given one assignment a day and it is usually something simple like “buy seeds” or “harvest harvestables”. If you’re working in your garden you shouldn’t have any problems completing the task.
If they choose to go to work they will disappear off to Peter’s Petals and Pods Landscaping for the duration of their shift. Occasionally you’ll get a pop up about a decision to make at work that can affect your job performance. They are pretty entertaining, from beheading topiary to feeding cowplants, so I won’t spoil anything for you. There aren’t any drastic consequences to the choices you make either. It is just fun game play.
It is fairly easy to promote through the early levels of the gardening career. You only need to level up your gardening skill.

Once you’ve reached level 5 of the Gardener Career you’ll be given a choice of which career branch you wish to pursue: Botanist or Floral Designer.
The first career branch option you can choose is the Botanist career. Botany is the science side of plants so your sim will devote their time analyzing plants, writing scientific papers or trying to earn research grants. Salary wise the Botanist branch is very lucrative and if you have a high logic skill it is easy to promote. Once you have maxed out your gardening and logic skills you’ll have significantly better chances at earning research grants. Overall there is nothing overly exciting about the Botanist career, but the ability to work from home, good salary and easy promotions, make this a great career choice for your sim.

The alternative career branch option is Floral Designer which incorporates the Flower Arranging Table. You’ll need to start leveling up your Floral Arrangement skill to promote through the career branch but this is easy to do. If you already own the Get to Work expansion, you might even consider opening a Florist shop and choose to “work from home”. This allows you to simultaneously run a retail store and get promoted through the Floral Designer career branch.

Flower Arranging Table
The Flower Arranging Table is an interactive object that intertwines with the new Gardening Career and Flower Arranging Skill. This item can be purchased in buy mode for §250.
Sims can use the Flower Arranging table to craft 65 different floral arrangements, and at the same time level up in the new Flower Arranging skill. As Sims level up and unlock new flowers they will also unlock new arrangements. When they first start off, the quality of each arrangement will be poor or normal. Quality affects value.
The following 65 floral arrangements can be created in the game:
To begin crafting an arrangement, select the flower arrangement table and choose “Make Arrangement”. Sims can choose a specific flower, or use the “All” option to see a list of available arrangements. If the “Use fresh Ingredients” box is checked, it will use available flowers in a Sim’s inventory to save money. Sims can also store flowers in the flower arranging table.
When Sims craft a new arrangement it will have a “Pristine” status by default. Unless Sims scent the arrangements with Bluebells, they will slowly begin to wilt. After 24 hours, the arrangement will wilt to a “Normal” status, and after 48 hours will become “Wilted”. Wilted arrangements will be surrounding by flies, and be downgraded to poor quality.
By default, all completed arrangements are crafted with the default floral foam base. Sims can click to choose any of 18 decorative vases. Vases do not affect the value or quality of the arrangement. They are purely decorative.
Once a Sim has at least a Level 3 in the Flower Arranging Skill, they will unlock the ability to Scent Flowers. Scenting can only be done at the flower arranging table, and requires that an arrangement is of excellent quality. Sims can use the “Scent With” or “Scent with Rare Flower” interactions to use this feature on flower arrangements. Rare Flower scents require at least a level 7 in the Flower Arranging Skill, and the flowers must be in a Sim’s inventory in order to use them as a scent.
Scents will activate different effects on Sims. These effects will either be available directly by clicking on the flower, or by gifting the arrangement to other Sims. Moodlets obtained by a scent effects will wear off after 2 hours.

The Sims 4 Seasons introduces Beekeeping. Burtie’s Bee Box can be purchased for §265, and is a must for aspiring gardeners. This object allows Sims to interact with bees, harvest and sell honey, pollinate nearby plants, create new recipes, and more.
One of the first things to know is that Sims can build relationships with the bees. Using the “Bond with Bees” interaction will help the relationship grow, and in return, Sims will receive better quality honey from the bee box. Relationships, Honey Amounts, Activity Levels, and Grumpiness, be tracked by hovering over the bee box.
Having a good relationship with Bees increases the quality of the honey they produce. In return, this increases the value of the honey. Honey can be collected every 7 hours, but it takes a full 24 hours for the bee box to be completely full.
The following levels of Honey, Activity, and Grumpiness are possible:
- Honey Amount
- Full (Yields 3 Jars)
- Partially Full (Yields 1 Jar)
- Activity Level
Their grumpiness level fluctuates daily, but bonding with them will help calm them down a bit. When bees are irritated or enraged, they are more likely to attack and sting Sims. Avoid purposely disturbing them during this time.
❗ Wearing the Beekeeper Suit will protect Sims from violent sting attacks
❗ Having a Crocus Scented Flower within 5 feet (grid tiles) will keep bees calm.
❗ Eating honey out of a jar will grant Sims a special moodlet that protects them from extreme weather conditions for 4 hours. Freezing or Overheating? Eat honey!
❗ Bees are dormant during winter, so they will not exit the bee box on their own, nor will they produce any honey. Sims are still able to interact with them though.
When Sims are not collecting honey and bonding with bees, they can interact in a number of other ways. Here are all the available interactions included with the Bee Box:
- Change into (and Remove) Beekeeper Suit – Allows Sims to collect and sell honey without worrying about being stung by bees. The suit serves as protective gear against attacks, but does not allow Sims to bond or collect swarms in it.
- Bond with Bees – This interaction helps increase the relationship between Sims and Bees. Use this interaction first to bring up the relationship meter.
- Collect Honey – Sims can collect honey every 7 hours to receive 1 Jar when the box is only partially full, or they can wait a full 24 hours to collect 3 Jars when the box is completely full. Their relationship with the bees dictates the quality of the honey.
Excellent quality honey is valued at §61, and Poor quality honey is valued at §18. Sims can use honey to make any of the new recipes and drinks available in the game.
- Collect Swarm – When Sims have a high enough relationship they can collect swarms of bees in their inventory to perform various actions.
- Sell Honey – Sims can sell honey directly from the bee box. Their relationship with the bees dictates the quality of the honey. Excellent quality honey is valued at §61, and Poor quality honey is valued at §18.
- Disturb – Sims can use this interaction to purposely irritate bees. In some cases they will receive a playful moodlet, but sometimes they will be attacked and receive the uncomfortable bee sting moodlet.
- Apply Mite Treatment – Once in a while mites will invade the bee box. This will cause bees to become grumpy. Applying mite treatments will correct their mood.
When Sims are not interacting with bees directly, bees will help themselves to gardens and pollinate nearby plants. This autonomous action will help plants evolved much faster, giving Sims more harvestables to collect in shorter periods of time.
Bees can do a lot more than pollinate a garden though. With a high enough relationship, Sims can collect swarms of bees from the bee box. Swarms are found in a Sim’s inventory, and will remain there for 5 hours. Sims can then click and instruct bees to do even more:
- Attack – Sims can choose a target Sim for bees to attack. Sims who are attacked receive the uncomfortable bee sting moodlet.
- Cheer Up Self With Bees – Sims who are in less than idea moods can use this interaction to cheer themselves up.
- Cheer Up – Sims can use this interaction to cheer up other Sims.
- Woo – Sims can use this interaction to send bees off a woo other Sims. This interaction will increase friendship and romance relationship progress.
- Send to Fetch Gift – Using this interaction will send bees off to fetch a gift for the Sim. Bees will return with a gift box that contains collectibles from the game.
- Pollinate Nearby Plants – Using this interaction will send bees to nearby plants for pollination. This interaction works anywhere in the world.
Patchy the Scarecrow
The Sims 4 Seasons introduces Patchy the Scarecrow, an object that remains inanimate until Sims bring him to life. Patchy the Straw Man can be purchased in buy mode for §450, and can be a great help for Sims who don’t have much time to tend to their gardens.
When Sims first interact with Patchy, they can use the Chat and Examine interactions. He will sometimes startle Sims with his animations, but if they spend enough time getting to know him, they will build up a relationship. When the relationship with Patchy has maxed, he will unlock his outfit in Create-a-Sim for Sims to wear.
Once the relationship is maxed out, Sims will also be able to use the Ask for Gardening Tips interaction for a significant Gardening Skill boost, and the Check Pockets for Seeds interaction to collect some flowers and plants to grow in the garden…but that’s not all!
Now that Patchy has a great relationship with the Sim, he will detach from his tree and come to life. Everyday at 1pm, Patchy will stick around for a few hours to help Sims tend to their gardens. Have some overgrown weeds and dehydrated plants? Patchy will take care of it all. Not only that, but Sims can even enter into a Romantic relationship with Patchy too.
Introduction to Weather
The main feature in The Sims 4 Seasons is weather. The game allows Sims to experience a variety of weather patterns during their everyday lives. The Sims 4 Seasons doesn’t include a new world to explore, but each of the existing worlds have been updated for weather.
Seasonal cycles bring a variety of changes to a world. The environment of most worlds will experience gradual changes, marked by particular weather patterns, just like real life! Not all worlds will experience the same changes, as worlds like Selvadorada and Oasis Springs do not typically see snow, nor do tree leaves experience abscission. You may see browning on some random bushes or trees, but for the most part it’s cloudy or rainy in winter.
The game places weight on certain weather patterns, during certain seasons, in each of the worlds available in the game. Weather will gradually change during each season depending on how long you set the seasonal cycle for. When fall rolls around, there’s less heatwaves, and more rain. When winter rolls around there’s a better chance of freezing snow.
❗ Deviations occur in each seasonal cycle, so you may not experience the expected weather pattern every year during the same season.
❗ Mysterious Weather can also occur. These weather patterns are described by the game as “anything”. An example would be a random dusting of snow in Oasis Springs.
❗ Each world also has their own forecast chances. There are three parts to a Season: Early, Mid, and Late. Each has a chance of producing various types of weather.
❗ The game does not set any specific default weather patterns for the Magnolia Promenade neighborhood (Get To Work), but based on observations, it follows the same type of weather changes seen in Willow Creek.
To give you an idea of the type of weather you will see during different seasons in each world, we’ve put together the following list of weather patterns:
|Warm and Cool Temps, Rain and Snow.||Warm and Hot Temps, Heat Waves, Thunderstorms, and Rain.||Warm and Cold Temps, Mysterious Weather, Rain and Snow.||Cold and Freezing Temps, Snow, and Blizzards.|
|Hot and Warm Temps.||Hot Temps and Heat Waves.||Hot and Warm Temps and Mysterious Weather||Warm and Cool Temps, and Rain.|

The first thing you probably want to do when you get The Sims 4 Seasons, is experience some weather that isn’t Hot and Sunny. But before you start making snow angels and play around in mud puddles, you should familiarize yourself with the new game options.
When you boot up the game for the first time, you can do one of three things; start a new game in Create-a-Sim, Load a Save, or Press Play and continue where you left off. All three of these options will lead you directly into the Seasonal Selector screen, with the exception of “New Game” that requires you to create a family first.
Spring – Spring is a great time to plant your garden to take advantage of spring showers, but watch out for those mud puddles!
Summer – Temperatures are climbing, so beat the heat with water balloons and sprinklers. Watch out for the thunderstorms, they can be electrifying!
Fall – Gather your garden produce to make a Harvestfest feast to celebrate with friends and family. Enjoy the changing leaves (and leaf piles) before things get chilly.
Winter – When you’re not bundled up indoors, have some fun in the snow or on the ice. Don’t forget to decorate for Winterfest and plan your New Year’s resolutions!
Whichever way to choose to start the game, you will eventually be met with the Seasonal Selector screen. You can hover over each of the Seasons to view more information about them, and once you decide which season you want to start with, click the corresponding plumbob, press ok, and continue into the game.
❗ You will only be required to select a season once per game save. Seasons rotate with the following schedule: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.
❗ You’re not able to alter the starting season once you’ve selected it. The only way to change the weather or the current season is to use the Weather Control Device in buy mode. High level Handiness Skill and upgrades are required.
Once you jump into the game, the weather will represent the season you selected. Now is the best time to familiarize yourself with the Seasonal Game Options available.
Seasonal Options can be access by clicking the options menu, and selecting the “Seasons” tab. From there you can change 4 options for the game. These changes are universal, so you won’t be able to change them for just one season or one game save.
❗ These game options are effective immediately upon changing them. Remember that these game options are universal. Altering the settings affects every world.
• Season Length – This allows you to change how long each of the seasons will last. Available options are: 7, 14, or 28 Days. This change applies universally for all seasons. Adjusting the season length will also alter or remove calendar positions, along with any events or holidays you create. The 4 pre-made Holidays will adjust on their own, but other holidays and events you have planned will be moved around or deleted.
• Rain Options – This allows you to choose one of three options: Rain & Thunderstorms, Rain, or None. Turning this option off will eliminate rain from the game all together.
• Snow Options – This allows you to choose one of three options: Snow & Blizzards, Snow, or None. Turning this option off will eliminate snow from the game all together.
• Temperature Effects – This option allows you to enable or disable temperature effects on your Sims. Weather plays a role in how Sims feel and react to weather. Sims will receive buffs and emotional reactions to weather. If you want your Sims to be able to run around in the nude during freezing weather, disabling will allow you to do that without repercussions.
Now that you have all this out of the way, you can check the current season, temperature, and forecast at any time. The Calendar Feature and the new weather UI provide the current weather forecast. You can easily hover over the time stamp at the bottom of the screen to check information on the fly. The Calendar Feature also provides a 7 day forecast as well.
The Calendar is located on the bottom left side of the UI right next to the phone. Once this opens you can check up to 7 days of the forecast on the top left side of the panel. Keep in mind that the forecast and weather can end up completely different. Things like playing with the weather machine, and the game’s own mechanics affect the weather.
The Sims 4 Seasons introduces 4 weather cycles. Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter include new environment changes, activities, and a new way to tell your story. Each season comes with many weather patterns, so you’ll see everything from Sun Snow to a Heat Wave.
❗ Weather and Environment transitions are also visible between seasons. Once spring rolls around, snow will slowly melt away and trees will begin to blossom.
You’ll also notice that the sun sticks around longer in the summer, and sets sooner during winter time. Depending on the season, Sims will also have a variety of activities available to them, from ice skating, to mud fights, to seasonal food stalls.
Spring is a time for cool weather, rain, gardening, and Love Day. When Spring rolls around, leaves will begin to grow on trees, gardens will bloom, and Sims will most likely carry an umbrella around to shield them from the rain. Only a few more weeks until Summer!
Summer is a time for sunny skies and heat waves. When Summer rolls around, the world is full of green life, outdoor fun, pools, and lemonade. Only a few more weeks until Fall!
Fall is a time for cold weather, rain, leaf piles, and Harvestfest. When Fall rolls around, the leaves will begin to fall, surrounding trees will boast autumnal colors, and Sims will have to make sure they stay indoors during thunderstorms. Only a few more weeks until Winter!
Winter is a time for freezing temps, blizzards, snowpals, and Winterfest. When Winter rolls around, trees are barren, Father Winter visits, and Sims spend most of their time outdoors building snowpals and having snowball fights. Only a few more weeks until Spring!
Weather Control Device
One of the frustrating parts of The Sims 4 Seasons, is that it doesn’t give you the ability to change the weather or season on a whim. Once you select a season, you’re stuck with it. You’ll have to wait until all 4 seasons cycle through before getting back to square one.
You can always extend each season using the game’s settings, or travel away to one of the vacations worlds for a change of weather. Either way, the only way to actually change the weather or season in the game, is to excel at the Handiness Skill.
The Sims 4 Seasons introduces Dr. June’s Weather Control Device. This device allows Sims to change the weather in the game, but more importantly, the season. There are several different upgrade options on the weather machine, and many of them require a high level Handiness Skill. If you want to be able to change the weather, it’s time to read up!
The available options on the weather control device are:
Change Current Weather – This is available to all Sims regardless of Handiness Skill Level. Keep in mind that the lower their skill, the bigger the chance of failure. Sims will get zapped by this device if they’re not careful. Sims with a higher Handiness Skill have more success.
Upgrades – There are 7 upgrades available. Each upgrade provides new interactions with the weather machine, and Sims need at least a Level 8 in the Handiness Skill to unlock them all.
- Handiness Skill Level 2
- Climate Hydrator – Increases success chance when attempting to create rain or snow.
- Gyroscope Durability – Makes the machine more resistant to breakage.
- Humidity Chiller – Increases the success chance of interactions involving snow or cold.
- Moisture Vaporator – Improves the success chance of attempts to clear the skies.
- (All upgrades require 1 Common Upgrade Part)
- Handiness Skill Level 3
- Capacitive Efficiency – Unlocks the ability to modify the current season’s weather.
- (Requires 1 Electronic and 1 Common Upgrade Part)
- Handiness Skill Level 5
- Self Repairing Nanites – Prevents the machine from breaking.
- (Requires 2 Electronic and 2 Common Upgrade Parts)
- Handiness Skill Level 8
- Temporal Modifier Unit – Allows the machine to advance to any season.
- (Requires 3 Electronic and 3 Common Upgrade Parts)
While there isn’t a quick way to change the season/weather in the game, Sims can increase their Handiness Skill to experience different seasons and weather effects in the game. Also, please remember that whenever you change a Season using the “Advance Season” option, any events and holidays scheduled in your Calendar will be deleted or moved.
Sims who spend too much time outdoors during Thunderstorms run the chance of being struck by lightning. Sims who are struck by lightning multiple times within a few hours will end up with the “HyperCharged” moodlet. This gives Sims the ability to summon lightning.
❗ Erratic and Storm Chaser Sims are more likely to be struck by lightning.
When Sims are struck by lightning the first time, they will receive the “Struck by Lightning” and “Supercharged” moodlets. If they are struck again within the hour, they will either be met with death, or receive the 12-hour “Hypercharged” moodlet. This moodlet unlocks a special interaction called “Bring The Lightning” used to summon lightning outdoors.
New Death Types
Death by Lightning
Sims who spend too much time outdoors during Thunderstorms run the chance of being struck by lightning. If they do not seek shelter immediately, the next strike could be fatal.
Sims who are struck by lighting more than once in a short period of time run the risk of being killed. If the Sim is not lucky enough to become Hypercharged with a second strike, death is immediate. The ghosts of Sims who die from Lightning Strikes will have the appearance of “live wires” emitting electrical sparks.
Death by Freezing
If you have temperature effects enabled in the game, Sims who spend too much time outside in the cold without proper attire will eventually freeze to death. Sims who ignore the multiple moodlet warnings and do not bundle up or seek immediately shelter will die.
❗ When a Sim’s skin turns blue, that is your final warning to seek shelter.
❗ Eating honey out of a jar will grant Sims a special moodlet that protects them from extreme weather conditions for 4 hours.
❗ Leaving a thermostat unattended in a home can also cause Sims freeze to death. When Sims receive the “chilled” moodlet inside a home that has a thermostat, it’s time to turn it off or crank up the heat.
Death by Overheating
If you have temperature effects enabled in the game, Sims who spend too much time outside in the heat without proper attire will eventually burn to death. Sims who ignore multiple moodlet warnings and do not seek immediately shelter will die.
❗ When a Sim appears to be unable to breath well outside and is profusely sweating, that is your final warning to seek shelter.
❗ Eating honey out of a jar will grant Sims a special moodlet that protects them from extreme weather conditions for 4 hours.
❗ Leaving a thermostat unattended in a home can also cause Sims burn to death. When Sims receive the “lethal heat” moodlet inside a home that has a thermostat, it’s time to turn it off or turn on the air conditioning.
Death by Floral Scent
Death by Flower Scent is not necessarily a new death per say, but it is a new way to kill Elders. Sims who reach Level 7 in the Flower Arranging Skill will unlock the “Scent with Rare Flower” interaction on completed floral arrangements. This allows Death Flowers to be used when adding a scent to their floral arrangements.
When gifting a floral arrangement scented with the Death Flower, the receiving Sim will immediately age up. This means toddlers will age into children, children to teens, and so on. But if a Death Flower scented floral arrangement is gifted to an Elder Sim, they die.

The Sims 4 Seasons has added Large & Small Gift Piles to Buy Mode. Gift piles come with their own independent interactions, but they can also be used as Gifts to Give to others.

This object has three options: Cooler, Warmer, and OFF. When the thermostat is turned on, additional charges will be added to your household bills. If the Thermostat is left off during extreme cold or heat, there’s a chance Sims will die without proper attire.
