Island Paradise will allow players to enjoy a new variety of building options, including using stilted foundations to build on water, new blueprints to build complex pools quickly, and even raising the ground around foundations to reduce the number of steps necessary to reach the ground. It also will allow players to construct houseboats, using special floating foundations for them.
But, players also have new options for where they build. In addition to resorts and home lots, which can be partly to mostly in the water, players can also build private lots, which act as homes-away-from-home. A private lot can even be a houseboat, allowing a player to have both a permanent residence and a houseboat for vacation purposes. In addition, any islands players discover and roll back the fog on will become private lots for them, allowing players to build on them as they automatically own the island.
Note: Houseboat bases can be 10×8, 15×10, 20×15, 14×6, or 12×8. Houseboats with curved bows are 14×6 or 12×8. Houseboat walls can be built up to the edge of the platform, but you need a 3×2 space cleared so you can fish. If you choose to buy a premade houseboat instead, the largest is 9,000 simoleons and the smallest is free.
If you use ladders on a houseboat to save space, remember they can only connect two levels and they need space on one side or the other for a sim to climb to.

————————————————————————————————————————————-
The first thing any player needs to know before constructing a resort is that all resorts require a resort tower rabbit hole, which exists in case players forget to include things such as bathrooms and which serve to both control what amenities you place and how many sims can stay at the resort. The resort tower rabbit holes can be upgraded by players, improving their quality, and even gain special options inside them once upgraded.
Resorts can be constructed entirely by hand, or a player can lay down special blueprints that cover rooms, amenities, and pools. Items such as the pool slide can be set down separately, but can also be found within amenity blueprints when those are used. Fire walk pits can also be laid down at a player’s discretion. Otherwise, construction of resorts is no different from construction or houses or player-built commercial lots.
Resorts can only be constructed and operated in main worlds; they will not work in World Adventure worlds or in University.
Resort towers are 4×8, 13×8, 9×29, or 16×22. They come in beach tower, Spanish, or Modern styles.

————————————————————————————————————————————-
Island Paradise also introduces the new features of snorkeling and scuba-diving, which allow a sim to explore under the waves and potentially find sunken treasure, underwater caves, islands, or even mermaids.

————————————————————————————————————————————-
Between houseboats and speed boats, players will have access to water transportation not seen before. Sims can take houseboats out on the waves, moving from open port to open port, while service sims and even normal sims just trying to reach the houseboat can make use of speedboats to surf across the waves. Other forms of water transportation include sailboats, paddleboats, rowboats, aquasleds, and waterskiing or windsurfing for the truly adventurous.

————————————————————————————————————————————-
Unlike other worlds, which are entirely or primarily connected, Isla Paradiso will be a series of disconnected islands, which one main one and a lot of small ones scattered throughout. It has been confirmed people will live on the smaller islands.

————————————————————————————————————————————-
Not much is currently known about Island Paradise, but the following three lot types have been confirmed:
♦ Dock
♦ Resort
♦ Houseboat
♦ Underwater lot for exploration
♦ Private lot

♦ Lifeguard – Life guards are a new career devoted to rescuing drowning sims. They sit on beaches, scanning the water for those who are drowning, and swim out to drag the person back to the beach and performing CPR if needed. Sometimes, the drowning person is faking it.
————————————————————————————————————————————-
Much of Island Paradise is focused on living on the open sea, and the houseboats themselves are both ocean-going vessel and permanent residence. In general, a houseboat resembles a house built to float on land, and they are designed to both allow all of the same amenities and such as a normal house, but with the added advantage that players can move them around the world at the player’s leisure. A houseboat can be parked at dock, move from dock to dock, or even just sit out in the middle of the water.
Activities aboard a houseboat, whether it is moving or still, are limited only by what a sim could do in a normal home of the same design. Whether the houseboat is in motion or docked, a sim is free to do anything from call for service to watch television to fish off the back off it to cook a meal; the only limit is what the design of the home itself allows them to do. They can even take a dive into the water around the houseboat and swim around, though this does leave the option of the sims being stranded there if the houseboat itself takes off.
Sims are also not isolated from the world, even while parked in the middle of the ocean; calling for repair, pizza delivery, or any other kind of service will cause service sims to come, taking speedboats to reach the houseboat when they can’t by land, and the service sims will provide service and such even while the houseboat is mobile. Sims can also use speedboats and other watercraft to head back to land, such as for things like jobs, or for cases when they go for a swim and the houseboat driver decides to leave them behind.
Players can also discover islands while they are out exploring. Islands that can be discovered are hidden by mist and, once found, become a private lot owned by the player. The player can immediately build on a discovered island and use it as a vacation home, or use it for anything else the player wants. It is the player’s island to do with as they wish.
Those wishing more familiar adventures can still go water skiing or wind surfing.
Oh, and life on the sea may not be entirely safe… There’s always the kraken to worry about.

In addition to what can be done above the waves, sims now have options below; they can scuba dive to explore beneath the waves and hunt down treasure, explore ancient ruins, or even potentially meet mermaids. Snorkeling is another option for exploration.
Note that scuba diving is not perfectly safe either; if a sim is down there too long, they can run out of air and die. They can also encounter marine life, some of which may be dangerous.
Also, note that scuba diving is limited to dive lots; you cannot scuba dive anywhere you please, but only on those special lots.

Players can run nearly all aspects of their resorts, doing everything from choosing how the resort is decorated and what amenities it offers to choosing what the drink specials are and how employees dress. The only limit to amenities is the resort tower rabbithole, which can be upgraded. Amenities themselves help improve a resort, making it more attractive, but amenities and improvements also cost money to keep operational, though players can choose to run the resorts with just themselves and their families to save money. The professional bars from Late Night also count as amenities for resorts. Employees can be hired to do everything from man pool bars to clean and repair the resort, and how many employees a resort has as well as what the employee uniforms are depends entirely upon the player. Players can also set prices for items, allowing them to set how much sims staying at the resort have to pay, and set certain rooms as VIP rooms with each having their own unique key to gain entry. In addition, players can also set up housing for sims who stay at the resort, with the only limit being the space a player has on the resort itself.
Note that not taking care of cleaning up trash on a resort can cause a roach infestation. And, it is possible to have too much chlorine in a pool.
Also, sadly, no restaurant-style resorts; food is provided by resort buffet tables and food stands.
The rating of the resort itself, up to five stars, helps determine how much money it can bring you.
And, for sims who don’t feel like running a resort, there is always just staying at one and letting another sim run it.

No island paradise would be complete without beach activities. In the case of Island Paradise, these activities, in addition to swimming and sunbathing on a lounge chair, include sunbathing on beach towels and splashing each other in the water or even building a sandcastle. And even toddlers get to have some fun! There’s even a special greeting that can be used in this paradise!
And, while relaxing, there’s even new radio stations to listen to for if your sims want music to accompany their beach stay!

————————————————————————————————————————————-

Island Paradise has been confirmed to feature mermaids as the new lifestate; sims can transform into mermaids. Mermaids will not be attacked by the creature in the underwater cave. Mermaids can be make or female, and female mermaids will wear seashell bras.
————————————————————————————————————————————-
♦ Minor skill related to fire walking.
————————————————————————————————————————————-

♦ Death by Running Out of Air – A sim that scuba dives for too long, but does not carefully watch their air supply, could quickly find themselves running out of air, and then quickly coming to an end.
♦ Death by Burning – Sims crossing a fire walking pit can catch on fire.
♦ Eaten by Predator – Sims scuba diving can get attacked and killed by sea life.

Will Sims 3 Island Paradise run with an ATI Radeon 4850 graphics card? I have Windows Vista SP1, 6GB RAM 650 GB HD. Are these Specs enough to run this game?
It is compatible since my spec is a little lower than yours (NVDIA ATI 4800, 2 GB RAM), I don’t care the specs since mine is mac, nowaday mac compatible to a lot of PC games.
Thank you very much Lumière de Dieu for your reply. I wanted to pre-order the game, but I was reluctant since the game seemed so much more complex than the others. I was beginning to doubt that my system could run it, so why order it. I will now place my order and wait with happy anticipation for it’s arrival! Happy Simming to you, and thanks again! : )
Oooh! I love your username! “light of god”
Mara:
You also have to remember it also depends on how many expansions & packs you are using at once. And store items, if any.
PLUS your power supply.
Because all these add-ons can strain & overheat your PC.
Game is very much a “resource hog” and even my PC gets bit in the butt & I need to get new graphics card & psu soon.
I ran into problems end of last year cuz of having all the Sims games with store items & not such a great PC. It started randomly crashing or freezing up. Once I stopped playing Sims, the problems stopped.
I have Ati Radeon HD 5450 1GB, 12GB RAM, W7, 2TB HD,
But my PC don’t like the Sims, and fps not so great at times.
Goes from 20-40, mostly stays around 25fps. Occasionally crashes or freezes PC. One time after 1 hour. Another time after many hours. No set pattern.
So I need to upgrade before I play IP
But good luck!
Thank you so much for replying SIMplyTheBest! : )
Hmmm……. I also have every single Sims 3 expansion and stuff pack installed. (I’m quite the little Simmer! (lol) I also have quite a bit of custom content installed as well. However, to date I have never experienced having the game freeze on me or crash.
About a month ago I did experience a problem in which I could no longer easily turn on my PC when I pressed the power button. I did some research on the net and found that for it’s size and power my system came with only a 360 Watt Power Unit. I resolved this problem by removing the old PU and installing a brand new 500 Watt PU in it’s place. The machine began running smoothly once more. I suppose that perhaps as you say having so many expansions installed must have put a strain on the PU.
Maybe I should have installed a 650 Watt PU instead. I thought about it, but I was afraid that installing a PU that was too big might hurt my PC so I played it safe. Oh well, too late now.
I will take what you said into consideration. If I do experience any problems running the game I will limit my custom content greatly, or eliminate them altogether. I can also uninstall my least favorite stuff packs. This should relieve some of the strain on the PC from running the game. Hopefully I will not experience any problems. Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply and I will keep your advice in mind. Happy Simming and thanks again! : )
I have all the expansion packs and I don’t buy and load stuff packs because they are quite bulky and no extra gameplay, I agree what Mara said, the last time when The Sims 3 came out I used on my PC computer but it lagged and crashed (2 GB RAM but 80 GB memory, I got fed up and ask my dad to buy a mac instead, it when smoothly until now) Note: You also no need to delete all if you adore some of the stuff packs.
Those specs will definitely run it, but if things start slowing down, you may want to uninstall any packs (expansion or stuff) that you rarely use the gameplay/items from to lessen the loading times, and also lower any settings you have higher than medium. The game still looks wonderful on lower settings–anything higher than med is just unneeded eye candy that you can’t really tell the difference with.
Do you know if they are going to put the live broadcast on you tube. I cannot watch it any other way
They haven’t load yet, I needn’t worry, because I am living different timeline (Or something taught in geography of different time in each session) other than America, so I need to wait the next day.
I hope there’s going to be bigger pool slides. The slide in the videos look like the slide from TS2 Seasons. They just converted it over to TS3 (I’m guessing). They should make slides like this (or even better):
http://www.e-menities.com/files/7713/3908/4329/Waterslides1.jpg
Reason I pick that is because … there’s really no need for animation, just have the Sim climb the ladder and sit on the slide, slide down.. then there’s no need for animations while they’re in the tube just pop-out at the bottom of the slide. They can use the same animation the used for the smaller slide. (Hope this makes sense)
Also… if there’s going to be buffets, I hope it looks like a restaurant buffets, not a table with cloth and food on it. More extravagant like this:
http://globalgoodgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/buffet.jpg
Just something I would like to be included with the EP
Now im thinking water flumes, bigger the better. Yes that is the same slide in TS2. I really dont think were going to get different water slides : (
Some new info on twitter from Simguru Mike says the Store Sauna and Massage Table won’t count as ammendities to resorts however you can still add them. Alex or Whip you might want to add this info to the fact page.
Jeff Carter @sharkloverplaye 4 May @SimGuruMike Will the massage table and sauna from the store count as a resort amminity and what about hottubs?Details Expand Collapse
Mike Zamora @SimGuruMike 15m @sharkloverplaye Massage table and sauna will not be scored as amenities but nothing should stop you from placing them on resorts anyway.
I wonder when the live broadcast is going to be announced. I’m ready for some new info.
Catloverplayer, have you ever heard The Sims complete soundtrack from Youtube? It’s basically a music soundtrack from The Sims 1 and lasts 8 hours.
I love Sims music and I hope IP has some amazing new music in it (hoping for a new downloading theme)
Ip does have new music. Simguru Mike confirms on twitter it comes with 2 new radio stations.
you can add the “loves to swim” trait!
1 down, I don’t know how many to go!
I have one question might have skipped it…. Are there new seashells as collectables? I saw in the life guard pic there are conch shells or maybe magic conch shell like on spongebob?like a magic 8 ball. Please answer!!! Thanks
Can someone please help!
Yes seashells have been confirmed as collectibles.
Hey! I’m just wondering…if you own a regular lot, can you still own a houseboat? Like simultaneously?
Yep they are called private lots you can own multiple ones
My life will never be the same after getting this expansion… I NEED A JUNKYARD HOUSEBOAT!
I hope we can put the sails down on the sailboat
I spotted a spelling mistake in the mermaids section, it’s: “Mermaids can be make or female” you accidentally wrote make not male…. Good job btw!
I went to pre order on origin ( I download mine I don’t get the disc) and there was no pc download only Mac/win does that mean I can’t get it I’m really upset!
PLEASE HELP I NEED THIS GAME SO BAD!!
win = windows… WINDOWS IS P.C. _ _’
Ohhh thanks I feel like such a blonde lol ( no offense to blondes because I am one so)
I can’t wait for the fansites to release info on this ep especially the objects in buy mode. I’m still wondering if hammocks and beach balls will be included in this ep. If their not then the sims 3 store needs to release them as premium content.
I just preorded it so stoked cant wait til june 25 errrr need a time trvel so can play the gmae
Unfortnantly my sim Chloe just detonated her husbands time machine Grrrrr! Lol
Do you know if you can build resorts on boats?
Doubtful but we will find out on wends day the 23rd
