SimGurus took to Twitter this week to respond to questions regarding The Sims 4 Get Famous Expansion. We have collected the tweets below for your convenience.
I think Get Famous has some of the most visually outstanding elements. The pack is very visual, funny, and looks beautiful.
I also think the world is super inspired and incredibly well made. https://t.co/wmPsEwzv4J

You can get famous anywhere if that is the story you wish to tell. https://t.co/yIuPpUSZmg

We don't have a "main size." We choose the lot size as needed for the story we're trying to tell at that location. https://t.co/18xm38ySkr

I don't know off the top of my head. It's a big, typical world. I'd say it's consistent. https://t.co/534gYcbKFp
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) October 11, 2018
Nah, this is us trying to present it as a full story with all the features combined. https://t.co/mtIvvMTTAp
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) October 11, 2018
Said this the other day, but I think the world is really inspired. But, also, the acting content is insanely visual, gorgeous, and diverse. It's really well done. https://t.co/UMi5TQtyn2
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) October 13, 2018
I've never been personally huge on celebrity culture. I'm all about Seasons…City Living…
BUT. I get legit excited making something the fans want so much. https://t.co/iztVYG3QhV

Get Famous does not add cars. https://t.co/RfYRMeZKDF
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) October 13, 2018
We have "fake" cars in most of our worlds. https://t.co/0fRx5ZER6S
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) October 13, 2018
We were super inspired by southern California. https://t.co/ZPaGPMze0y

There are a TON of acting gigs. https://t.co/v9obc7jy9s

There are a bunch of different paths to becoming a celebrity. Various careers and skills all feed into stardom, as well as different objects, interactions, and other aspects that haven't been unveiled yet.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 9, 2018
Yes, children inherit fame based on the fame of their parent or parents. If their parents are famous, they'll automatically gain some percentage amount of their parent's fame each time they age up.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
Your Sim's public image is saved and shared through the Gallery. Their Reputation, Celebrity Level, Fame Points, Fame Perks, and one other aspect of fame–that I don't believe has been shared yet–will be preserved through the Gallery.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
Certain skills can contribute to your Sim becoming famous. Different skills are more tightly integrated into fame than others. Singing is a supported skill, if you have City Living. As you sing in public and earn tips, your Sim will earn fame and start to attract larger crowds.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
No, vehicles are not coming in Get Famous, or at any point in the near future.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
You could become famous simply by developing your Sim's writing skill and publishing your books, yes. You don't have to specifically join the Writer career, although that is an entirely separate path you could pursue to become famous.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
We didn't change the Celebrity Level or Reputation of Sims from older worlds, or Sims that are already in your game. Players may have already established stories for them that we didn't want to override. You'll be able to turn any of those past Sims into celebrities though.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
"They said you can gain celebrity status by performing at open mic night or by performing music, but what about dance off, busking, karaoke, djing, selling art, etc.?" Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
If you accept being dared to streak, yes. Simply walking around in the nude, no.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
Sure, it's an icon that ties into reputation. I think it's cute.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
Many of them, not all of them. Some just don't do anything that logically made sense in contributing towards a Sim's fame.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
We haven't shared details on this yet, so I'll decline discussing it for the time being. I'll simply say there should be zero cause for concern; it's something we've accounted for. If you don't hear more soon, it'll be shown in-depth during the Fame & Rep livestream on 11/2.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
For a player who also owns Jungle Adventure… giving archaeology lectures, identifying artifacts, and writing archaeology books can help a Sim become a famous archaeologist, yes.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
We took a lot of lessons from what players didn't like about celebrities in Sims 3 when considering how fame progression would work in Sims 4.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
I don't believe we've revealed information about music in the pack yet.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
The current selection of ownable businesses (Retail, Restaurant, Vet Clinic) don't contribute to your Sim's fame.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
I don't believe we've shared specifics about fame progression yet. Happy to discuss during the Fame & Rep livestream on 11/2 if more info isn't revealed before then.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
A Sim can have a reputation without being a celebrity. We'll reveal more about how that actually work in the Fame & Rep livestream on 11/2.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
Let me be as clear and straightforward on today's topic as possible… Where your Sim lives has zero bearing on if/how they gain fame, or their reputation. You don't have to live in or travel to Del Sol Valley, and living in Del Sol Valley does not force anything unique on you.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
You can become famous no matter where you choose to have your Sim live.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
Yes, I guess @SimGuruNinja did utter those words. Fame Quirks were the last thing I was referencing in that tweet.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
Yes, if you own City Living your Sim can develop their singing skill, and will earn fame when performing in public and earning tips. This will lead to larger crowds gathering to watch them perform.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 11, 2018
If you beat another Sim by bowling a perfect game, that sure sounds worthy of fame to me. So… yes.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 12, 2018
Vampires can become famous, the same as any other Sim.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 12, 2018
No, this pack doesn't offer a way for pets to become famous.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 12, 2018
You can experience every aspect of the Acting career in Get Famous without having to own the Get to Work expansion pack. So yes, it's a full active career that lets you follow your Sims to work and play with them at work.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 12, 2018
You can join the Athlete career and pursue fame from that, yes.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 12, 2018
Yes, you can send them off to work without following them if you want.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 13, 2018
Yes, both if you have the career from City Living, or by increasing the followers through various interactions on your social media account.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 13, 2018
No, that isn't something we're adding in this pack. There may be some other things relating to money that you'll find interesting in Get Famous though – keep an eye out for more information being revealed.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 13, 2018
Where you live doesn't affect anything about your Sim's public image.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 13, 2018
All Sims will have a public image. "Public Image" is just our term for how other Sims around the world perceive you. If you were to have a neutral reputation and no fame, it would be no different from how you currently play… which is a totally valid path.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 13, 2018
All Sims have a reputation. If your Sim's reputation is neutral though, it'll be no different from how your game currently plays.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 13, 2018
It functions differently than those other things you mentioned. It's not obtrusive. We'll cover it during the Fame & Rep livestream on 11/2.
— Graham Nardone (@SimGuruGraham) October 13, 2018
You can make any lot exclusive! We'll tell/show you how soon!
— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) October 12, 2018
She lives in Del Sol Valley.
— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) October 12, 2018
Yup
— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) October 13, 2018
Nope Sims can be famous no matter what world they are in. https://t.co/yV8wmFvMoa
— SimGuruMrE (@SimGuruMrE) October 11, 2018
100% this… design pillars, product pillars whatever you want to call them just be sure to have them to keep everyone on the same target. https://t.co/AzJGK8u1uT
— SimGuruMrE (@SimGuruMrE) October 12, 2018
When we first did this stuff pack we actually did a lot of work on the back end to keep track of and store your score for a game…so this had to be a thing! of course famous bowler here I come! https://t.co/SuYEeU70nm
