Painter Career
The Sims 4 Painter Career is one of ten careers available in the game. This is a great career and has a lot to offer in both branches. Advancing in this profession is easier than many others because the favored mood, daily task and required skill for promotion are all work together in perfect harmony. The desired mood is inspired. Inspiration boosts your skill improvement for painting which is always your daily task. You can get a room that generates the inspiration mood setup as early as the second level.
The Picture Perfect Art Lighting reward object earned at level two is not enough to fill a room with inspiration by itself. If you buy and enable a second one in the same room, you can have super early access to an inspired room. The light itself is dirt cheap so even if funds are tight, buying a second one won’t be hard. And as you advance in this career, you keep getting more and more inspiring objects which can be used to amplify the inspiration aura effect.
The other perk worthy of note is the “Research Art Reference”. This can potentially be a very powerful tool for getting promotions. If successful, it will leave your Sim with an 8 hour long inspired moodlet. This is very useful to do right before work as your Sim will be in the favored mood for their entire shift. Do be aware that it can sometimes fail and leave you with a +1 tense moodlet if your Sim fails to find something.
As a backup plan, “Browse Art” will always give you a +1 inspired moodlet, but it only lasts for 4 hours. You can also gather inspiration from just about any piece of art to give yourself a quick moodlet to take to work. This can be stacked with the “Browse Art” moodlet to overcome any negative moods. At level 7 you are asked to choose between the Master of the Real branch and the Patron of the Arts branch.
The Master of the Real Branch focuses on art for art’s sake. A crucial reward object is the Deluxe All-Season Easel which has the highest painting quality rating in the game. Once you get that, paint exclusively on that easel to maximize the value of your paintings and increase the odds of creating a masterpiece. This track introduces the need to build logic skill. While this might seem like an additional burden, here is a trick to make things easier. When your Sim is in a focused mood you can paint a Mathematical Diagram, which actually builds logic skill while you paint it. So you can continue to have your Sim paint and make money while they build up the Logic skill needed for promotions. Mathematical diagrams are also great for making a room that provides the focused moodlet, which other Sims in the house may benefit from.
The Patron of the Arts Branch got a whole lot less annoying now that they’ve changed their daily task to create paintings (It used to be view paintings). The side skill needed is Charisma, which requires you to socialize. You can build Charisma quickly by creating and enabling some confident aura paintings and have your Sim socialize near them, as a confident mood boosts skill gains to Charisma. The Patron of the Arts branch is more of a regular job. It requires more hours at work but also pays more.
The best reward for this career path is the Rustic Dream Bed which is the best bed in the game. You may find it worth it to take this career just to unlock that bed.
