Years before Zynga, Wii and the smartphone revolution The Sims was the most visibly successful example of casual gaming. Ignored by the hardcore but beloved by people that would never dream of calling themselves gamers, the series has chugged along for the last few years but never seems to have really benefited from the expansion of the audience it helped to create.
No doubt major changes are afoot for The Sims 4, whenever that is to be announced, but for now the series is still churning out its expansions – an activity it is often criticised for despite the fact that they’re generally of a much higher quality than any other expansion or downloadable content.
