Azure Bowie is a shining example of what being a Smart Girl really means. A lifelong fan of The Sims™ video game franchise, Azure wrote a letter to Electronic Arts declaring her love for the game and eventually scored an internship. Years later, Azure is working full-time as a producer on The Sims, through her own determination and passion.
We had the pleasure of spending time with Azure recently when filming our new series, Smart Girls Build with The Sims 4. In our first episode, Azure meets a fellow Smart Girl, Celeste, and shows her the impressive world of dance within the game. We had a few moments to sit down with Azure and do what Smart Girls do best – ask Smart Questions!
Azure Bowie: Meeting Celeste was awesome! Celeste has so much positive energy and she was really inquisitive and interested in the process of making a video game. We had awesome conversations about what work is like day-to-day in the video game industry. It was so much fun to talk to a Smart Girl who not only plays but is interested in making games.
Making games seems like it would be a lot of fun! How did you get your start working on The Sims?
AB: I’ve been a fan of The Sims since I was in high school! My senior year of college, I applied for an internship with EA and wrote a pretty embarrassing fan letter about how much I loved The Sims. I think my passion for the game must have really come out in that letter because I got the internship and I’ve been working with The Sims ever since.
