If you hoped the amount of game DLC would eventually become a thing of the past, a new report shows that for Electronic Arts, DLC is a very lucrative market. Speaking at a Morgan Stanley investor conference earlier this month, EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen detailed the success of DLC, which brings in about $1.3 Billion dollars a year for EA.
According to IGN, the $1.3 billion dollar figure is “essential to EA’s digital revenue, which was responsible for over half of the company’s overall net revenue in Q4 of EA’s last fiscal year.” With that said, it’s unlikely that the amount of DLC will slow down anytime soon, especially since most players tend to “pay to beat” their friends in games.
