Since his return to Twitter, SimGuruGrant has been quite the social butterfly! With so many different tweets and topics, we’ve decided we will round up his tweets on a weekly basis so you can read everything in one place. Check out Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 as well!
We'd like to make some.

Most games don't do anything with the seasons and content. In Grant Theft Auto you cannot freeze to death. Your character doesn't care if they are wet. It's just a strange comparison.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 6, 2018
I cannot debate your opinions – everyone is entitled – but the "two years or less" is false. Sorry, but it's not true.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 7, 2018
We actually really try to have a healthy work/life balance. While we don't get breaks between packs, we encourage folks to take vacations and work healthy, normal days. We do crunch a *little*, but it's something we try to always minimize. https://t.co/F73C386Lfl
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 7, 2018
Definitely want to include more Latino culture. Selvadorada was definitely our attempt at a Central/South American style Latino country.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 7, 2018
Maybe!
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 7, 2018
@SimGuruGrant Sooooo… You guys are doing a great job with making different hair types and textures, but are we going to see some “super long” hairstyles in TS4 soon? 😍💇🏻♀️
— Cecilie Linea S (@CeciliLX) June 7, 2018
Honestly? I want us to do more curly first! https://t.co/U8MMcLBNqU
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 7, 2018
I want to do a "behind the scenes" explanation . Here's a quick and dirty picture I snapped today during a Gate meeting. What's that? For every project, we have several gates where we present our designs, art, pillars, demos, and more to higher ups to get approval to continue. pic.twitter.com/v4TvLqmHEL
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 7, 2018
I'm going to start taking snap shots of meetings and things. In many cases I won't be able to show them for months or years later, BUT, eventually, it'll be cool to share.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 7, 2018
Really curious but why do sim weeks always start on a Sunday? The first day of the week has always been a Monday for me and it bugs the hiddly heck out of me….
— Amy Natasha (@AmyNatasha) June 7, 2018
I am sure we debated this for months on base game and I honestly cannot remember. https://t.co/iFLpyFz5lu
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 7, 2018
Can you tell me will there be a patch or pack where we can own our own night clubs and gyms would add so much more to the game
— The Simmer (@TheSimmer10) June 7, 2018
I'm unable to ever give dates on unreleased content, and I can also say right now we aren't working on this, though we know it would be fantastic. https://t.co/aOzhNWLY0h
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 7, 2018
I'm going to say it's very unlikely as we'd have to add animation bones to literally every window in the game, and many of them are different shapes, which means the animations would be very different. It would be a lot of work for…a window. Sorry :/
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 7, 2018
They're a great object I'd love to make.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 7, 2018
Hey @SimGuruGrant @SimGuruGraham , I know you guys might not see this, but why do you guys take so long to release dlcs from pc to consoles? Like all you guys have to do is optimize the graphics to the consoles settings and do some coding.
— Jonathan (@RX_78_02_Gundam) June 7, 2018
We want to shorten the window, but they require optimization, some of which is extensive, updates to various things, but also, the certification process for consoles tends to be longer. https://t.co/r6WytvZa0v
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 7, 2018
Create a Style is not planned and is very unlikely for The Sims 4, as we've said for some time.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 7, 2018
@SimGuruGrant What are the chances that one of the base game systems would get COMPLETELY overhauled with new mechanics/rules. I'm mostly refering to something like the aspiration system, which I find very limiting and often grindy when it comes to gameplay.
— ・ ᴥ ・ (@TheMarshyBear) June 7, 2018
We talk about this a lot. There are quite a few I'd love to do this to, personally. And we all have opinions on this. One concern is how many people get angry at us changing a thing…even if it's better. https://t.co/XTm8XWdm5z
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 7, 2018
@SimGuruGrant idk if this has ever been addressed (prob missed it forever ago) but why doesn’t the game have the burglar aspect anymore? We could have like a settings option to allow/ignore them for peoples preferences? Always added a more genuine feeling to the “irl” aspect
— kay (@nicedyloumite) June 7, 2018
In the past there were some issues with tech that made it tough to do. Now, it's more about finding the time to do it right, the right theme/content with which to pair it, that sort of thing. It's on our list. https://t.co/Z65JAmo7Wq
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 7, 2018
You know what I’d really like to see in the Sims 4? Like a theme park game pack, with rollercoasters and other rides too (seen below) with popcorn, candyfloss etc, stalls where you can play a game and win a prize! Just an idea 🙂 pic.twitter.com/7ImwBP06jr
— Lauren 🌸 (@violetcrumble_) June 7, 2018
I'm not sure we can make the pack you envision, sadly. Not in The Sims, at least. our game just isn't quite built to do things like that.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
I cannot, and will never, be able to share specific sales data with you fine folks. https://t.co/7gWK7LHOhX
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
Well, you mean specifically between Teens and Young Adults, as children and toddlers are different heights. Right? If so, it's based on a decision we made – right or wrong – to make a broader range of animations instead of incurring the cost of porting adult animations to teens.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
For example, every animation that children and adults can do requires time to "port" it down for the different skeleton. By sharing teen and adult animations – again, right or wrong – we spend less time there.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
This is the grand complication of long term franchise! We have data that shows that some folks want ONLY new stuff, some want ONLY existing stuff, some want a mix, some want everything. The community is huge, global, and diverse. There isn't one right path. Eep! https://t.co/9mWQre8yXi
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
Soccer/football is tough. It's the world's #1 sport AND we have such a huge European player base (*waves*). But, The Sims isn't designed really to have them play soccer and we're always asking whether people will be happy with…basically just kicking goals? https://t.co/pkdmkonGu1
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
Do you have graphic designers that work on the Sims games? If so, what tasks do they work on? I just graduated college with my degree in graphic design
— Katie Stanton (@stantoke18) June 8, 2018
Yes, though we call them UX designers! They work on wires for all the new buttons and panels you see. So for example, they design the Vampire panel for new powers, or the temperature indicator, or the calendar. It's a VERY IMPORTANT JOB. https://t.co/5YyYOrzdRl
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
Do you think Sims will ever make it to VR? I have a Vive, and it's…awesome. I realize this would be many, many years down the road, but I'm thinking holodeck.
— Melissa Morgan (@MightyPirateMel) June 8, 2018
VR is amazing, but it also has a very small market size currently. The technology is just really expensive and most of The Sims audience couldn't run it. BUT. We like VR, we think the tech is cool, and The Sims is great for it. Just walking around a home you built would rule. https://t.co/keb1o95MQ2
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
I have wanted to implement online dating since City Living. One day. *looks dramatically in distance* https://t.co/cxYkbQxsl8
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
I actually did a survey on that last week…
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
@SimGuruGrant What DLC took the most effort to make?
— Anastasia (@TheParda) June 8, 2018
Cats and Dogs by a landslide. It is like making a new base game. https://t.co/VBXH5uXOvb
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
What aspects was difficult about making Cats and Dogs? CAP? The world?
— aidan (@aiidaannn) June 8, 2018
Create a Pet is basically like remaking Create a Sim. Figuring out how to make all the cats and dogs, all the hairs, modifiable ears.
We have to fundamentally overhaul animation for four legged routing.
We have to make ALL the content for dogs and cats.
We have to add AI. https://t.co/bF835u87jj
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
We are making so much stuff for The Sims 4 after Seasons. https://t.co/Yf9eXy5DnU
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
@SimGuruGrant I know that you might not be able to answer and I understand that but hey might as well try – will we ever see anymore apartments in anything further? As in would you like to incorporate them into future content?
— DKB (@Danielkb95) June 8, 2018
We'd like to make them more, but folks also want new stuff in every expansion and not just repeating things. It's a difficult challenge every time. https://t.co/XxkyjYKOdT
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
Probably not. We'd have to add the animation for 1.5 Expansion Packs (at least) JUST to do that.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
As everything we make takes a long time to make (I said to someone the other day I'm worried we're already behind for next year!), yes, we're quite busy. https://t.co/hA8KMVbwcv
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
Would be neat. We don’t have anything planned at this moment, but it’s a good idea. Thanks.
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
With worlds we try to make new stuff. https://t.co/dSV9A6ZVZC
— Grant Rodiek (@SimGuruGrant) June 8, 2018
@SimGuruGrant Hey Grant! I know sometimes you can’t say things, but are you able to let us know what happened to the original Windenburg from Gamescon 2013? Did you not like it? But also, could we ever see that map return with different backdrops? Seems a waste 🙁 pic.twitter.com/3jJnQaTTNQ
— Jack (@JackTheSimmer) June 8, 2018
Literally a placeholder for the con. Wasn’t even Windenburg.
