The New Year is a great time to start anew – to find the things you want to transform about yourself, and to use the change of calendar as a launching pad for a new you. But change is hard, and takes a lot of work – it’s no surprise that most people give up on their resolution within a few weeks.

In The Sims 4, however, New Year’s Resolutions can be a breeze. Here are some of the most popular New Year’s Resolutions… and a look at how much easier they are for your Sims than they are for you.

Get Rich

Real Life: Lottery tickets? Inheritance from a long lost uncle? Win a game show? Create the next hot, new app? To go from “not rich” to “rich” you’re going to need a lot of luck.

The Sims 4: Motherlode.

Get a Promotion

Real Life: You never fully know what you need to do at work to get a promotion. Sometimes it means working long hours, other times it’s about learning new skills. And even then, it might not happen!

The Sims 4: Want to take your Sims from “Agent Handler” to “Field Agent”? Level up their Charisma and have some friendly interactions with people, and they’ll be on the path to Secret Agent faster than you can say “I’m a secret agent!”

Learn a New Skill

Real Life: With exception to things like juggling and cooking a new dish, it’s hard to categorize when you’ve actually learned a new skill. Plus, you might end up trying for months and finding that the thing you’re trying to learn is actually much harder than you thought.

The Sims 4: Do the thing! Then do it more! Watch the handy bar moving, letting you know that your Sims are well on their way to becoming more skillful at Comedy/Fishing/Fitness/Gardening/Guitar/Handiness or any number of other things.

Read More Books

Real Life: Reading isn’t actually all that hard – we’re willing to guess you’re doing it right now! But while reading books is inarguably useful and beneficial… there’s like… a TV right there… and a new season of that show to watch, and…

The Sims 4: Not only does time fly by while your Sim is reading, but they’ll learn something too! Like, a lot! They can become better at just about anything by spending a few hours reading a book. Talk about efficiency!

Lose Weight

Real Life: If you want to get fit, you’re going to need to diet and exercise – that means going to the gym a few times a week and cutting back on the better things in life (like ice cream and pizza).

The Sims 4: Drop a treadmill in the spare room (or anywhere you like) and use it a few times a week. Eat a few pizzas? No worries, just click and watch the pounds melt off.

Reorganize Your Home

Real Life: This all depends on the size of your home. Actually, it doesn’t – even reorganizing a bedroom can be a nightmare. If you buy new furniture it has to get delivered and assembled, too, which can take hours.

The Sims 4: Click the stuff you don’t want, throw it away, and put new stuff down. Don’t like the color of your Sim’s bed? It’s cool, just swap it. Your Sim’s entire house can be reorganized in minutes.

Have a Baby

Real Life: We… don’t need to go into this here. Either you know how this process works, or you shouldn’t be reading about it for the first time on TheSims.com.

The Sims 4: There’s literally a “Try for Baby” button. Click it, and… boom! Baby! Heck, act fast and your Sim might be able to have grandchildren within a few weeks.

We’re sure there are more, but those are the areas where your Sims have it much easier than you! If you have any other examples, share them with us on Twitter using the hashtag #SimYearResolutions. Have a great New Year, everyone!
