The Sims 4 Tech Guru Career Guide

Tech Guru Career

The Sims 4 Tech Guru Career is one of ten careers available in the game. If you want to spend a lot of time on the computer, this is the career for you. Tech Guru is a good choice for making money fast as it is the highest paying career at the lower levels. While plenty of other careers will surpass it in earnings at the top levels, nothing beats it at the lower levels. It is also one of the easiest careers to advance to the top level. The entire career centers on being focused and it provides focus boosting reward objects early and often. The two core skills (Video Gaming and Programming) are both boosted by a focused mood.

In addition to meeting the promotion requirements, both of the career’s primary skills are useful on their own. Most of the activities required to develop your skill sets…such as making apps, hacking, or entering gaming tournaments…earn additional funds to supplement your regular paycheck. Thus you can increase your skill levels, perform daily tasks, and earn a bunch of extra cash all at the same time.

To keep your performance high, make sure your computer is located in a room near focus boosting objects. Browsing the Simipedia on your computer right before work is a good way to take the focused moodlet with you. While it is not strictly part of the career requirement, it is advised to pick up and develop the handiness skill. Because this profession heavily revolves around the computer, being able to fix it when it breaks down is critical.

When you hit level 7 you are faced with a choice: eSport Gamer or Startup Entrepreneur. The easier of the two branches is eSport Gamer Branch. The required skills for promotions are the same two skills you’ve been working on already. Both skills benefit from focus auras and you get your choice of how you want to make cash on the side. The Career rewards are hard to beat with the Top Secret Computer being statistically the best reward computer in the game.

The Startup Entrepreneur Branch is a little trickier. The introduction of the Charisma skill and the focus on programming, which doesn’t naturally give fun, makes the skills on this path a little harder to manage. It does, however, give you the largest and most impressive TV in the game as a career reward. The pay between the two branches are pretty similar so if you are looking for a little more challenge and an epic TV, then the Startup is the branch for you. This will require some time away from the computer. Get your Sim feeling confident (brushing your teeth is a quick and easy method) and have them go socialize to build up that Charisma skill quickly.
