With the announcement of The Sims 4 Realm of Magic Game Pack, SimGurus have taken to Twitter to give players more information on the game. Realm of Magic is set to release next month on September 10th (PC/Mac), but here’s some info to keep you satisfied until then!
❗ The Sims 4 Realm of Magic releases on Consoles October 15th, 2019
Like we did with StrangerVille, we’ve worked to keep weird/occult stuff from spreading out across your game unless you make it happen yourself.
— Aaron Houts (@SimGuruHouts) August 19, 2019
Very similar, yes.
— Aaron Houts (@SimGuruHouts) August 20, 2019
Yes! You can name your familiars whatever you want, so there’s no official name. 💀
— Aaron Houts (@SimGuruHouts) August 20, 2019
Sorry, only pets created for Dogs & Cats can become familiars (in addition to the special new familiars that come with Realm of Magic of course).
— Aaron Houts (@SimGuruHouts) August 20, 2019
It is a voidcritter familiar 😊
— Wizenheimer (@SimGuruFrost) August 20, 2019
No fairies or werewolves.
— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) August 20, 2019
For The Realm of Magic we are focusing on Spellcasters to deliver the best experience possible with them. You can have a Fairy as a familiar tho. =D
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Don't forget brooms and curses and perks and ….
oh drat. I'm giving you too many details. Quiet SimGuruNinja; quiet!— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) August 20, 2019
Yes. My blurred Sim is cursed and the Island folks are freaking out.
— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) August 20, 2019
Just to be clear… Spellcasters can cast magic anywhere!
— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) August 20, 2019
You can go to one of the new neighborhoods by map (and yes, you can live there). The Magic Realm… you'll need to figure that one out. 😉
— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) August 20, 2019
Teens and older can cast spells. But there's a bit for kids to discover as well. (And multi-generational spellcasters can get various little bonuses too)
— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) August 20, 2019
1 world; 2 neighborhoods. 1 is common and 1 is quite magical.
— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) August 20, 2019
Kids can't cast spells. (But there is some stuff for them to do. Just not spellcasting itself)
— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) August 20, 2019
You can create Spellcasters in CAS.
There are also ways to turn Human Sims into Spellcasters too.— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) August 20, 2019
There's a good variety. Crows and Owls are definitely 2 of them. 😉
— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) August 20, 2019
Spells, perks, curses, potions? Yes, yes, a million times yes.
Stay tuned for more info on all the particulars of how exactly it's set up! 😉
— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) August 20, 2019
Familiars help your Sim conserve their Magical Energy as they cast spells. They also aren't afraid of Death at all! They're fantastic protectors!
— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) August 20, 2019
No; they need to be found and collected in the world.
Well…. unless you have Cats & Dogs. They can be your familiars too. 😉— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) August 20, 2019
They do not take up a slot or have needs.
— Dave Miotke (@SimGuruNinja) August 20, 2019
The new world will support all seasons.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 19, 2019
Spellcaster progression will be very similar to Vampires, plus some. Not only will they have Perks and Curses, but we have added an entire Spellbook where they will log the Spells and Potions they have learned.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
There will be 2 new worlds. World 1 is Glimmerbrook, where you will be able to live and move your Sims in. World 2 is The Magic Realm. You are not able to officially move into this world, but there is nothing stopping you from putting a bed on the lot. ;D
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Glimmerbrook is equivalent to Forgotten Hollow, and The Magic Realm lot is build-able using the bb.enablefreebuild cheat.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
There is lots to do in The Magic Realm. I do not want to spoil everything. Stay tuned for more information regarding gameplay.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
In order to be a Spellcaster you must select the Life State in CAS, or ask one of the 3 Sages for The Right of Ascension. The progression for a Spellcaster is very similar to Vampires, plus some.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
You can create Spellcasters straight form CAS, or ask one of the 3 Sages to perform the Right of Ascension on your Sim. Only Spellcasters can learn magic.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
In order to deliver the best experience possible for Spellcaster we wanted to double down and focus. This version of Spellcasters will have more Spells and Potions than any other Sims game. In total there are 24 Spells, 15 Potions, & several curses.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Yes. You can purchase form a variety of brooms. Once a broom is in your Sims inventory you can click on it to make that your preferred method of travel. You will now be able to fly anywhere.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Controlling the power of a Spellcaster takes all of Sims strength, there is no way they would be able to harness the dark arts of a Vampire and Spellcasting at the same time. In short… No
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Yes. You can ignore the portal completely and not unleash your Sims true magical potential, but why would you want to do that? =p
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Nope, Magic is a secret art that Spellcasters will only perform in The Magic Realm. That does not stop the player from practicing magic wherever they choose.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Kids are able to have the Magical Bloodline dwell within them, but they are still too young to fully comprehend how to use the Magical Arts. It is not until they become a Teen that they will be able to realize their full potential.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
If you own Cats and Dogs you will be able to designate your pet as a Familiar! You will be able to send them out to forage magical ingredients. They also will have cool sparkles around them. =D
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
The Magic Realm has 1 big lot and can be edited with the bb.enablefreebuild cheat. Glimmerbrook has 5 lots and functions just like any other normal world.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
2 new Aspirations. 1 for the Alchemy/Potion path, and one for the Spellcasting and energy path.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Can you provide a screenshot of what you are referring to? If I am thinking of the correct thing you can purchase a familiar for your Sim. These familiars will follow you around and protect your from Death. They work similar to the Streaming Drone.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Yes. There is a new trait called The Magical Bloodline. This will allow your Sim to become a Spellcaster later in life.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
There is a transformation spell, but it will not turn you into an animal. Maybe a fish tho…
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Yes it is a normal residential world with 5 lots.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
It is a brand new lifestate similar to Vampires. you can only cast magic if you are a Spellcaster.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
yes.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
This is the first occult without a 2nd form.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Yes! one thing we really wanted to capitalize on was the customization of your Spellcaster. You can choose from a variety of Wands, Brooms, Spells, and Familiars. You can even choose to cast without a wand if that's your thing.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
That is actually the collectible area. You can find a few new plants that will serve as helpful potion ingredients.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
This is correct. Glimmerbrook is the normal residential world. It contains a portal to The Magic Realm. The Magic Realm has 1 lot that you can customize using the bb.enablefreebuild cheat.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
The Sages have done everything they can to hide the magical arts from normal mortals. The only way to access The Magic Realm is with the Portal, a Spell, or The Glimmerstone that is given to every Spellcaster.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
It is actually a crystal. It is given to every Spellcaster.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
You can have as many familiars as you want bound to your Sim. You can only have 1 summoned at a time.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Through CAS or you can ask one of the 3 Sages and they will bestow the Right of Ascension on you.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
If you own Cats and Dogs you can designate your pets as a Familiar.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
We have 4 styles of magic. Practical, Mischief, and Untamed. These are represented by the 3 Sages. There is also a 4th style, Alchemy, this is the art of Potion crafting. You can mix and match styles if you like, or go down a single style. The choice is yours.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
The Magic Realm is surrounded by a swirling vortex of magic. Seasons are unable to penetrate the void.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Only Spellcasters can make Potions. However anyone can cook Mac N cheese, Chili, and Cioppino on the cauldron =D
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
You need the cauldron to make Potions, however if you have a cauldron you no longer need a stove! You can cook Mac N Cheese, Chili, and Cioppino in the cauldron. =D
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Perhaps there are ways magic can overwhelm your Sim. If it was easy to be a Spellcaster everyone would do it. =p
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
you can using the bb.enablefreebuild cheat.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
We built a custom day night cycle for this world. It is really cool.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Yeup. We even made a cool Wand display case, and Brooms will be able to be hung on your walls =D
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
We added some special nodes and code to make the 3 Sages stay in their respective areas of the house. However, if you rebuild the entire lot the worst thing that will happen is the Sages will just walk around like normal Sims. Nothing too bad.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Like I mentioned, we really wanted to dive deep into customization of your Spellcaster. We didn't want any familiar, wand, or broom to be better than the next. If you want the normal looking stuff it should not be worse than the crazy looking stuff.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
This was something I really wanted to push for. It is a bit more complicated than a single tweet. If you tune into our Live stream on September 6th I will cover this in much more detail. Just know the portal is not the only way to travel to The Magic Realm.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
It wont be in the world. It only exists in the Sims inventory. It is essentially bound to every Spellcaster.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
To start there is 1 empty lot, and 1 starter home. There is also a venue. All of this can be rearranged and customized as you wish tho.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Perks and Cuuuurrsseeess =D
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
No new woohoo locations, but Death might come knocking if you push your Spellcasting to the limits =D
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
2 new plants to tie in with Potion Brewing. Valerian Root and Mandrake Root.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Children can have the Magical Bloodline Trait, but they will not be able to comprehend their full potential until they are a Teen.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
There are a few voidcritters that are based off of myth and legends. Bubalus is a real life creature that can be tamed by children in the hamster cage. Veild possesses the powers of the cosmic void and might have origins in The Magic Realm.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
You can perform magic anywhere you desire. Be careful tho, people may not react kindly to the magical arts.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
They age like normal Sims. However, there is a potion of immortality you can craft =D
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Possible solution for your tiny living Spellcaster: Use the Glimmerstone to travel to The Magic Realm from anywhere. Use those cauldrons to craft potions. Each batch of potions yields 4 bottles. Learn the Copypasto Spell and copy your potions instead of brewing them again.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Their are 2 version so the cauldron. A normal one with normal fire and a fancy one with magical fire. Can confirm this will work Off The grid. =D
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
No new food recipes, but there are 15 new potions to learn how to make on the cauldron.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Yeup!
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Like Vampires.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Only Spellcasters. Anyone can have a broom on their wall tho.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
You can travel to The Magic Realm and ask one of the three Sages to perform the Right of Ascension on your Sim.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Broom like bat, New hair styles no new facial hair, no new hats, no capes or cloaks. We do have quite a bit of accessories to show off your Spellcaster tho.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
CAS and CAS Stories are both additional options.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
The Crystal Ball looking things you see in the trailer are actually the Familiars. Think of them as little PokeBalls, except way more comfortable and luxurious for your Familiar. =D
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Yeup!
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
That Copypasto spell is going to be extremely helpful. Maybe a touch on the OP side =D
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
The Sims has a pretty strict no murder policy. That does not mean Sims can't accidentally walk into a fire that your Spellcaster created…
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Yes! Grave Stone and Urn will be different. It is actually my favorite one so far =D
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
No new Skills specifically, but Similar to Vampires, Spellcasters will have a lot of various bars and progression with them.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
That's sort of what we thought. It just seems strange. Same reason Spellcasters do not have weeknesses, instead they have Curses.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Yeup. Best way to travel in Sulani is actually by broom. Who would have thought!
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
This is correct. The portal is no Sorting Hat. It places no judgment on the person entering. It welcomes all!
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
You can always just learn the Inferniate spell and burn everything else.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Spells do affect reputation. However, their is no notion of a Bad or Good Spellcasters. You can choose which of the 4 styles you prefer tho. Practical, Mischief, Untamed, or Alchemy. pic.twitter.com/utpjo1ogdm
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
A Spellcaster can have up to 3 curses. Some of them are pretty nasty. You will get them by failing feats of magic. Don't worry there are a few ways you can dispel curses.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
We wanted to lean heavily into customization of your Spellcaster. You will be able to pick and choose from a subset of open perks, or go deep down a certain style.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
Spellcasters will be similar to Vampires. It will not be a Skill in the traditional Sims sense, but a full Lifestate with its own forms of progression.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
It is supposed to be a hidden world only known by Spellcasters. There are 2 households living here. 1 is a couple of Spellcasters, and the other is a Family of Spellcasters with a strong magic linage. So in total 6 to start.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
I answered this a couple times, I am hoping someone can link to the answer. There are no cross occults.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 20, 2019
If players did not want a Familiar, Wand, or Broom, because that was the story they were telling, it should not make them a worse Spellcaster. Saying Wands, Brooms, and Familiars are better felt like it was forcing players into a specific play style.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 21, 2019
2 new ones. 1 for the Spell Casting Path and 1 for the Potion Brewing Path.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 21, 2019
Yes those can all be sold. When the Familiar is in the Orb form it is attached to the Orb. When a Familiar is bound to a Sim it will actually consume the orb until the Familiar is unbound again returning to Orb form.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 21, 2019
Yes it is a new Need that you will need to maintain.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 21, 2019
Yes
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 21, 2019
You will be able to over max and learn everything possible if you desire.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 21, 2019
You will not be able to live in The Realm of Magic.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 21, 2019
We added a couple Club rules for magic. =D
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 21, 2019
No careers. We did add 2 new aspirations.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 21, 2019
You will designate if your Sim always uses wands, or never uses wands. It is a toggle on your Sim. You will be able to turn it on and off whenever you wish.
— SimGuruRomeo (@SimGuruRomeo) August 21, 2019
