Here to kick off our March Community Spotlight is talented builder, Simply Simmer! In a brief introduction below, Megan gives readers a chance to learn a bit more on her work in the community. Take it away Megan!
Hello! My name is Megan, AKA Simply Simmer. I’m a Sims 4 YouTuber who specializes in building houses from TV Shows like The Office, That 70s Show, Friends, and more! I’m 26 years old and I live just outside of St. Louis, MO, USA. I have a wonderful husband named Tom and two beautiful children named Luke and Molly!
I’ve been a Simmer since the original Sims came out in 2000. I was only 5 at the time, but I fell in love with it! A huge part of my childhood and middle school years was spent playing The Sims 2, and now as an adult, I love building in The Sims 4! I decided to start my YouTube channel while I was on bed rest recovering from surgery in November of 2019. I had a lot of free time, which was spent playing The Sims 4 and watching The Office! I decided to build Dunder Mifflin one day, and the dream took off from there!
While it wasn’t an overnight success, I definitely started getting a TON of feedback and suggestions from viewers all around the world. Some suggestions were for very well known houses like the Tanner/Fuller residence from Full/Fuller House, and some were for popular movies like Up and Toy Story! When I’m creating builds, I’ll first watch whatever show or movie I’m working on and take screenshots while I’m watching it. I save all of the screenshots to a folder on my desktop and name them according to the room they’re from. Then when I’m building, I can quickly reference those pictures, which streamlines the build and makes the process a lot faster than skipping around trying to find scenes for the spot I’m working on.
I try to be as involved as possible with the Sims community on Twitter and Facebook. I’ve been known to do game giveaways and gift cards on my social media platforms as well. It’s my hope to be able to continue doing giveaways for other Simmers as my channel and community grows! I am SO thankful for everyone who has supported me and my channel so far, even though it’s only a little over a year old. I plan to keep creating new content, and I love getting suggestions from viewers, so I don’t foresee myself running out of ideas anytime soon. If you haven’t seen any of my videos yet, head on over to my channel and I’m sure there’s a video from something you’ve seen or heard of. And if not, leave me a comment and I’ll add your favorites to my list! Thank you for reading!
