With no more The Sims 3 Store content being released and The Sims 3 Forums being put into Read Only mode, it might be a good idea to start backing up any The Sims 3 Store content you have. We have already created a guide explaining how to back up your content, but we wanted to highlight a potential source of future frustration now.

When re-installing backed up versions of your The Sims 3 Store content it will only work when using the same game version. This means that if you download Store Content with a physical or digital game version, the content will only install (WITHOUT ERROR) when using the same game version.

Example: If you download Store content with a Disc-based version of the game installed, you will not be able to re-install the store content with a Digital version of the game. Additionally, if you download Store Content with a digital version of the game installed, you will not be able to re-install the store content with a disc-based version of the game.

We have created an illustration to help you work out which Store content will work with which game version. Start from the left and answer the questions. Click the image to make it larger.
