Hi Jules,
I live in 18 Culpepper House in Spice Market, and I believe my apartment is cursed. A lot of abnormal things just keep happening lately. There was this time when a friend of mine died in my dining room of eating poisonous pufferfish nigiri, which he brought in by himself. I felt so helpless not being able to do anything when it happened. He was a good friend. He used to always takes out trash and mops up puddles for me when visiting. The police later concluded that the dish was made poorly, probably by some sim with low cooking skill. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to trace where the nigiri came from. Come to think of it, why did he bring his own food when I always serve food for guests?
Another thing is that my place seems to be haunted by a ghost. Sometimes I wake up finding plumbings and utilities broken over the night. The repairing bill has gone through the roof ever since I moved in. Is there a way to get rid of him/her?
Sincerely,
Growfruit
Jules’ Advice
Hello, Growfruit,
I’m sorry to hear what you’ve been dealing with. And although this is a lifehack column, I’m still going to try my best to help you. (It’s not like we’re getting mail anyway…)
A friend passing away is definitely a desolate moment for any of us. Having to do house chores yourself certainly makes things worse. But fear not, you’ll be able to see him if you keep his urn in your apartment. His ghost will occasionally appear in the middle of the night. And you can always follow my previous lifehack advice to take care of chores.
Now I realized that keeping your friend’s urn wouldn’t help your ghost situation, so I guess it’s up to you (and probably his family) to decide whether or not you should do it. However, there’re other ways to clear out the sad mood. And it is lifehack related! You did send the letter to the right column after all. Many of my readers find buying more décor for their house useful for repelling any bad mood. So I wholeheartedly recommend you to purchase some antiques or paintings and put them around your apartment. Soon, you’ll be as happy as a clam.
About the ghost… I have to confess that I have nothing in my sleeves that can solve the problem. As of now, I don’t know anyone who deals with paranormal other than the Grim Reaper. Hence, I’ll give you one word: move. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but that’s why I’m here. Upon searching, I found a really nice place in Spice Market: 2B Jasmine Suites. It’s located right next to your apartment building, has similar rent price, and is a few steps nearer to the metro station. And I assure you that I’m not getting paid by the landlord to tell you all of these, so you should definitely rent that place asap.
Whoa, I’ve been handing out so many pieces of advice today. Hopefully, you’ll follow all of them to solve your problem. I’ll be in touch.
Best,
Jules
